Many of you may know that two years ago my DD broke her tibia and fibula in practice about a month before her first level 7 meet. I'll skip the details of that event, only to provide this:
She had surgery for rod and pins. Got an infection from the surgery. We battled it for a year with...
As most of you know, my DD made a tremendous comeback from a broken tibia and fibula. She has had a great 1/2 season and has all of her level 7 skills back. She is even doing tsuk drills, which I thought she would NEVER do.
However, about 10 months ago while she was in the midst of...
I know this topic is out there and I have read some of the old posts/threads. I am having a hard time determining how everyone decided their gymmie needed Tiger Paws.
My DD has never had wrist pain, but has been complaining the last week about it only in one wrist. She says she has pain only...
My DD is doing Platinum this year after being in JO. We have a large xcel team but this is the first year offering platinum as we tend to focus on JO for skills aligned with level 6 and up. So, I am not sure if there is some missing info, but I am trying to understand if my DD is missing a B...
I hope this question makes sense. Is there any difference in the deductions given on CHS that don't get to HS if attempted from straight body vs. straddle? More specifically, is there an "extra" deduction for a straddle cast that doesn't get to HS vs. a straight body? Thanks!
http://soccerparenting.com/2015/02/16/6-reasons-parents-should-not-watch-practice/
It is about soccer, but it made me think of all of the practices I have watched for both of my kids. Sometimes, kids want their parents to see them progress at practice, do the first BHS, etc. but as they have...
I am looking for some proactive guidance/suggestions/etc., especially from coaches who have had to deal with the following:
DD broke her tibia and fibula towards the end of October in a bad landing of a tsuk vault. It was an incredibly crazy evening, down to paramedics and clearing the gym...
Don't worry, it is not a place to seek medical advice!! We just need a place to vent and seek support, and hear those stories of "oh my DD was injured, but she came back strong."
Is this something you can set up for us? Thanks!
I was wondering, after talking to HC and reading a comment from Dunno about how spotting takes its toll on coaches, just how much hands on coaching and spotting is needed. How does it vary level to level and where can describing body position and providing drills take the place of spotting?
DD is having trouble getting both hands on the beam for her BHS. Very often she gets both of her feet, but usually only one hand. One coach has said that when she sets she is not square on the beam and that she is turning one hip. Yet, she has a very nice BWO on beam which she never misses...
I never really gave this much thought until recently. DD says that she feels like head coach is always correcting her, much more than anyone else in her group - and really the girls are all very similar right now. Most of the repeaters are getting very similar scores.
DD feels like at...
Ok, so I know that the details are still being figured out, but I just can't get my brain around this new optional level 6 for next year. I looked at some of the material USAG has put out and it seems like the are looking for 5 A skills and 1 B skill for the new level 6. Based on my little...
I hope someone can explain how being committed to a level for states works. I believe that the highest level a gymnast competes during the season is the one she must compete at states, assuming she meets the qualification score. So, if she competes only 3 events at the higher level that means...
I don't think it is an exact comparison the level 7, so I am not sure what is going to be required for the new level 6. Does anyone know or have a link to the USAG website where it is listed? Thanks!
Hi,
I was wondering a little about different gyms' approach to competing vs. training. What level does your gymmie compete and what skills are they training in the gym? Do you like this approach or do you wish it was done differently? If so, how would you like to see it and why?
Thanks!
