    Parents Ugh, bratty little child..

Agreeing to disagree is fine, but can you see why you gave that impression? Part of the problem with internet forums is that you can't see the other person;s expression, or hear their tone of voice... The OP was an adult venting to other adults. That does not mean that she or anyone else goes...

Parents USA Rec gym Vs UK Rec gym

My daughter's in a club in the UK. We have one and two hour rec (general) classes, which are pretty much mixed ability, the kids within those classes are grouped according to age and ability. Some of the two hour kids compete at novice level floor and vault competitions, a couple of times a...

    Parents Ugh, bratty little child..

It was not said that you had called another child a name, but you pulled the original poster up for bragging about her child to put another down, then went on to post.. This is not saying or implying that your child is the weakest in her team... more that she is special and superior and that...

    Parents Ugh, bratty little child..

My daughter is 12 and is in a group of 12-15 year olds. She is having issues with a girl in her group being a 'princess' - this girl is a strong personality so the coaches seem to just let her behaviour go. She repeatedly stands on the tumble track talking to the coach after her turn, while the...

    WAG White Leos?

One of our local clubs have white leos - chosen to look good with the white stirrups the boys wear. The white lycra is seethrough, and when laundered, the coloured sleeves bled into the white fabric, so the whole leo went a greyish colour with the area around the sleeves looking quite lilac...

The Official London 2012 Leotard Thread

Lots of nude mesh undees on view at the leg holes as well I thought - at first glance DD was asking why the girls had stripes at the tops of their thighs

My daughter wants to quit gymnastics

There must be something about being 11! My DD is an 8hour/week gymnast, so she also takes dance classes and just started an hour a week of judo. She got up on Wednesday morning and announced that she wants to quit dancing because 'it's not fun anymore, judo is more fun' - she's been dancing...

What's LEFT in your meet gym bag

Inspired by this thread I just went and looked in my son's judo bag. Bad Idea..... Odd (smelly) socks, mouthguard (not in case - in among socks), satsuma, shrivelled (in among socks), various medals, sweet wrappers Yuck

    Roundoff Tuckback

sorry - but in my defence I don't think I've posted a brag yet! My daughter is primarily a floor and vault gymnast, who trains four piece. She was offered a squad place from the rec class at the age of 10, we were told she would get to advanced level at floor and vault in a couple of years (the...

Best sports for gymnast to transition into??

I know the local judo coach (who coaches my son and the county squad) is very keen to have my daughter. She's done a couple of sessions - she's strong, flexible, fit, has good co-ordination and body awareness, and follows instructions/corrections to the letter. And is apparently the perfect...

Parents Sending DH to the meet tomorrow

I like to try to get to all of DD's competitions if I can - the one time I didn't go there was a photographer and she was mortified at having action shots taken while she had 'daddy hair'! It can be difficult when you have other children to consider - my middle son is a competitive judo player...

Doing other stuff? How much does your 7/8 year old do?

I'm right with you! My husband works away and I work from home, so am able to take DD (plus her brothers!) to the various things that they do - my eldest is a keen air cadet, my middle son is a county level judo player (4 times a week training) and keen guitarist, and DD is the youngest. We do...

Doing other stuff? How much does your 7/8 year old do?

My DD is a bit older, she's 11 and just went up to senior school - so more travel time and more homework. She does gym 3 days a week for a total of 8 hours, has dance classes on one evening and occasionally private dance lessons (for competition work) on another day, and has just started (at her...

Parents First competition of the year tomorrow :)

ah, one very sad girl here... There is snow where we live which is too deep to get the car out in (southern England is just not set up for snow..) and the club has taken the decision not to travel. But at the other end of the route, the snow at the venue is minimal, so the competition is going...

Parents First competition of the year tomorrow :)

Hi, we're in the UK and my daughter is a floor and vault gymnast. In our county this has six levels - novice, intermediate, advanced, bronze, silver and gold. My daughter is 11 and was a 2 hour rec gymnast up until nearly a year and a half ago, when she was moved into the squad and 8 hours...

what famous gymnasts has your gymmie met?

My daughter met Beth Tweddle when she came to open the gym club that she went to for a while. She got her autograph and had her photo taken with her. When we were at London Prepares (the Olympic qualification) we were walking along the top of the auditorium looking for seats, and Beth Tweddle...

    What do I do next?

talk to your coach! My DD started on forward and backward walkovers, and front and back handsprings once she had her backbend kickovers and handstand-bridge to stand. She just started on BWO on beam which is scary to watch - like the handspring vault - so I don't stay for practice! :D
