Parents Suddenly won't let go for flyaway

JBS gave great advice above. Just want to let you know your dd is not alone- My dd at level 10 (yes L10) and 16yo suddenly couldn't release for dismount in the middle of one of her L10 seasons- She went to a meet competed Jeager, Pak, blind changes, all the L10 skills....followed by the L4...

Parents College club gym options for a level 10?

What year is your daughter now? club teams can vary greatly and the strength of the team can vary based on who happens to be there at the time. Also different colleges may provide varying levels of support to the club teams. When my dd was on her college club team her Freshman year she was...

I just started tele-therapy last week....It is an interesting adventure!

    Parents Coronavirus

There is just simply NO WAY to keep open for recreational classes and have safe way to not put people at considerable risk at this point. This is not unique to gymnastics- virtually all sports, gyms and recreational facilities are shutting down. Gymnastics businesses at least may have...

WAG Post season meets and Coronavirus

As fast as everything is changing and now that end of season meets are off the table I think all gyms will be closing in the next couple days... I had an email from my daughter's cheer gym at 10 today saying they would be open and then another one 2 hours later stating they are closing...

WAG Post season meets and Coronavirus

I could arrange that...I have connections :) Just know there are also no airports or hotels nearby.....or in some cases, paved roads... lol! Seriously though, there are just going to be a lot of disruptions to our American lives over the next few weeks to months. We are waiting to see if my...

WAG Post season meets and Coronavirus

I think things will be in flux and changing daily... the list just today of universities cancelling classes and moving to on-line only is large. If universities or public schools shut down it could affect any meets - including state and regional meets that are held in those locations.

Parents Help me understand- bhs vs bwo on beam ( fear)

My dd was the same way, prefered BHS...and then once she was able to do BLO prefered that even more.

Parents For the curious -- NAIGC

Profmom- glad to hear your DD is enjoying NAIGC! My dd participated last year and enjoyed it! Nationals was in Daytona beach and they had a blast! DD says that the men's program is especially good and actually quite competitive.

    WAG Heartbreaking

THis is heartbreaking and difficult to hear about. My daughter when she was in her 2nd year of L10 and had been doing double backs off bars for 3 years, one day just didn't release and landed on the top of the high bar right across the shoulders and then crumpled to the ground. Thankfully, she...

    WAG Whistleblowing

In many states DSS only investigates cases of abuse in the home or by a parent, they do not accept other reports.

    Parents Incentives

Never did incentives through all my dd's years, mostly because she is just a very driven personality. At L9/10 dd developed a mental block on her double back off bars- she already had her single release, and had no problem with the rest of her bar routine, but got to the point that she could...

    WAG What do I do

Sounds like the coach is telling you that if she stays the year will be wasted and she will not progress. L9 and L10 skills are tough, you need an experienced coach who can coach those skills (and has the time) and the needed equipment. The 2 high level coaches leaving is concerning. Sounds...

    WAG College Question

College coaches are generally much more interested in the actual skills and those skills being relatively clean...they are going to be more interested in the videos than the actual scores as scores do not tell the story....NCAA scoring is slightly different than USAG....also the fact that she is...

    WAG Double Twis

The 1 1/2 is a front landing (so blind landing) so it can be as difficult as a 2/1 so I have been told. Also, what PP said, limited letters and more skills.

Parents Six months after retiring from gymnastics

So glad to hear the happy update! My daughter decided last July not to do NCAA college gym and changed her college plans at the last minute. She did participate in college club gymnastics on a very low-key level. It turned out to absolutely be the right decision for her- she has been so happy...

WAG Joining Xcel - Questions about difficulty levels and allowable skills

I don't know any on-line links for it, but your gym should have a copy? Most searches for it on-line result in the FIG values which differ slightly from USAG code.
