Just wondering. Can a gymnast loose NCAA eligibility if they have an agent and do a few acting gigs? Not endorsements, just acting.

I can't remember the name of a gymnast that was on "Barney's Friends" -- the purple dinosaur ;) -- a few years ago and then returned to gymnastics. I believe she became an elite level gymnast, but I don't know if she competed in college.

Thanks!

It has to pretty explicitly involve gymnastics - "pay for play" is the phrase used. Just appearing in say, a random modeling shoot, is not enough.

Like Gymdog said. If you do the sport in your acting, or model the sport uniform, it can't pay more than your reasonable expenses to do the job. Otherwise you have to disclose it and request reinstatement.

But you can act, and model.

I think they were reviewing this rule -- it's worth a call.
