No, we don't do it. Our gym has such a big JOGA program, plus the USAG, I think it's just too much for them. And, I probably couldn't afford another season anyway, LOL

Not to mention DD is on the "injured list" again. She strained some back muscles during conditioning on Weds night. Sad thing is, all her injuries thus far haven't been due to her actually doing gymnastics...all conditioning!

Missed you at the states meet, but I'm glad you are feeling better and I am sure our paths will cross again soon. I read somewhere about your DD's sweat pants and t-shirt..if she was on the roster for the state meet then she should still be able to get it! Want me to give you our gym's email or try to find out for you??

Our state has a rec league(I guess similar to JOGA) and USAG. No gym in the state that I'm aware of does USAIGC. Honestly, all I could take is 1 season of competitive gym anyway. Their bodies can only take so much as Blackie said, I would not want to have to pay for anymore gym right now!

Thank you but she was not on the roster. Her coaches sent in the petition to the state Director and NOBODY ever got back to the coach or the gym to say whether she could be entered or not.

But, if you could find out if I could buy her the sweatpants, that would be great. They were really nice! As for the shirt, her name would not have been on it anyway, which is :( this is the first time ever that she missed States.

I'm sorry that your dd is injured again. I hope she feels better soon.

Our gym does not do Joga. We have a non-competitive team. Our competitive team does is "required" to compete USAG but USAIGC is optional. All of our USAG girls do USAIGC because it is FUN. We only do 2 meets and then States which is in Wildwood over Memorial Day weekend. The meets are pretty low key and relaxed. Most gyms in the area separate teams that either do USAG or USAIGC, I think it is us and maybe 1 or 2 other gyms that do both with the same group of girls.

Hello fellow States-women!

Our gym is doing USAIGC. This is the first yr that they are not doing JOGA and have switched to IGC to give the girls a chance to compete outside of the State. I think a few are really hoping to make Nationals, which is being held in California this yr.

A few of the girls who were hitting some blocks switched over to the IGC program, which gave them a little bit more relaxation than USAG. Our gym is not doing both, you are either USAG or IGC and there is no switching back and forth (at least that is what we've been told.)

It seems like a good program thus far, the girls are really happy!

Hey there, we do usaigc . . . and we expect to go to California in June for Nationals! DD is going to the national individual events in May doing all for 4 events Bronze and silver floor / beam . If you have any questions . . . I love the program. I especially like that they can compete on more then one level. They can specialize up a level so someone having trouble with one event can move ahead on the others

We love the program too, especially the compulsory girls who get their own routines. This is my oldest DD's 5th year, she did 2 yrs Bronze, 2 yrs Silver and her first in Gold. Little Monkey is in her 3rd yr as bronze and an event specialist in silver for FX.

We have our States in Wildwood, so the kids look forward to that weekend every yr. The coaches have not made a final decision yet, they want to survey how many kids would go to make the trip worthwhile from NJ to CA (airfare around $400 pp!!!)

(airfare around $400 pp!!!)

Already got my tickets total 600 even round trip for me and DD, including taxes, fees yadda yadda . . . and the all important insurance so I can cancel if needed.

Hope you guys can make it! The hotel looks amazing and it should be so much fun!

And don't forget that the rooms are at a nice discount . . . and can sleep, I think, 6. The rooms have 2 Q and a pull out . . . oh and a terrace! So you can save big bucks sharing rooms.

I was going to share but with DD being the youngest by so many years we need our own room so I can get her to sleep! I also plan to do some grocery shopping in town, juice bags, cereal etc. As many meals as possible in the room! LOL

:D

:D

Where are you flying to/from? I looked into flying into LA and driving 2 hrs but it is still $350 pp and there are THREE of us. If we go, I will book a timeshare off site, so the cost will be minimal.

Totally agree about getting enough sleep :D

Update....

Hey GMM, just wanted to let you know that there was talk at our gym that some of the USAG girls might do an IGC meet to qualify to States/Regionals. The girls who would participate are the ones who were injured and didn't get to compete a full season, if at all and those who didn't qualify to USAG Regionals.

My point is that dd was told that she could participate, so if they (coaches) do follow through and get them IGC numbers and such I guess she will still be competing after all. I think they are trying to get them in for the May 2/3 meet at Flyers and then States/Regionals.

I know the intention of the HC is to get them to Nationals. I didn't say anything to HC but we wouldn't do Nationals because we will be on our family vacation the same time as Nationals and I told dd, I am not giving up that - SORRY, not! :p

Great news! We may finally get to meet at States! Would your Level 8 girls do Gold or Platinum? We have done the meet at Flyers before but we're not going this year. We still don't know if we are going to Nationals. Right now we only have about 8 girls committed to going so the HC will have to make a decision.

I think Gold. I know she doesn't have 2 bar changes that would be required for Platinum, so unless they could whip that up in like 2 weeks, I would think they would put her in Gold. She just started the overshoot, but she might be lucky if she could compete it next USAG season, not now! :p

I will say and I have said to dd, that I will believe everything when they ask for the money for the IGC number and meet fees - until then, I am hesitant that she will compete. I just don't have a ton of faith in our coaches when it comes to administrative stuff - I am hoping though that they come through. I mean Flyers would be 2 weeks away.

Getting a USAIGC takes a matter of minutes per gymnast, but I tried to find the flyer I had with the Flyers deadline and could not...that's where you may run into a problem. Are your lower level girls already registered?

I don't think that our IGC team is going to Flyers. There were supposed to but now I don't think they are. They are going to the Dynamo meet on the 26th - which I really don't want to go there. I hear their gym is beautiful, but they don't allow water bottle for grips and like no chalk on bars - our girls who have competed there before hate it, dd's never been there and I'm ok with it staying that way.

I might ask HC tonight how we should go about getting the IGC number. This whole IGC thing will not be top priority with her because that Flyer's meet will be the same weekend at 8 Regionals, so I know where she stands (and that's fine)... I think if that is the meet that we go to the IGC coaches would take them, that's ok dd does work with the one and the other was her level 6 coach. I would be nervous with her flipping her Yurchenko without her HC there, but the one coach does work with her on vault and he's a great guy!

It just all seems so last minute and that is so the way our coaches work... ;)

Well, that was short-lived. HC called yesterday and said on 2nd thought she doesn't want dd to compete IGC and to just train upgrades for now. Her rationale is that dd would not be ready for Premier and would compete Gold and she (HC) and also IGC Coach do not want dd competing against the current IGC Gold team.

Understandable and accepted by dd. We had talked before I asked HC if she could do IGC and I said they may say no for this exact same reason - so it's funny that this exactly what it came back to.

Oh well, it's probably for the best since I just washed dd's comp leo and I somehow got a pink stain on the white sleeve - God's way of telling me it wasn't going to happen.

Dd is working blind full changes on high bar and just recently started shoot-overs. She is also working what the coaches are calling German Front Giant - it looks like they are going to pull her arms off her body, but she says she is fine. On beam she is working on getting side aerial consistently on high beam. She is starting her new series BHS-BLO step out. She is also working on full turn w/ leg up. Floor, she is consistently doing halfs, if you never noticed before but dd never twisted in her floor routine - it's been a sore subject for about 1 yr now. She is also throwing a punch front after the half. She is back to working front full, which she has on tumble trak and has upgraded FHS-FLO-FT to FHS-FLO-FP. Vault, working on mastering her pike. That's about all that is going on in the gym for dd.

It's hard to believe that I can sum up her gym activities in 1 paragraph! :p

That is reasonable thinking on your coaches' part, and I must confess, I was a bit concerned myself since our DD's would have been in the same age group again! LOL.

Great news about all the skills that she's training!
