Besides Pixie?? Starting to feel left out here, lol! Actually, what I'm feeling is butterflies! Sectionals is Saturday morning. While she is super amped I'm starting to worry. Mainly because her coaches have been "adjusting" her handstands so that she holds them longer and now they are ALL JACKED UP! This effects the floor, beam and vault. She now has it in her head that to hold a handstand longer she has to arch her back (because she was successful doing so a couple of times). I'm just gonna keep smiling and not let her see me sweat! It'll be an interesting sectionals for sure, haha!!

Anybody through with the sectionals fairy??? If so, could you send her this way, please :)

Well, I was just wondering if there were any others gymmies with sectionals and state left to go. I kinda thought it was strange that Pixie's are so late in the season compared to everyone here.

Looks like most were very successful! So good to hear!! Congrats to you all ~hugs

No worries Pixie Flips!!! DD has a meet this weekend and then States isn't till the weekend of May 16th. Seems like we still have a ways to go!!!!

Good luck at Sectionals!!!!!!!!!

Pixie is going to do beautifully. She has come such a long way and is really a pretty little gymnast.

Good luck to Pixie and everyone else that still has states and sectionals!!! :D

We are done with the Sectional Fairy and are happy to send her your way! DD qualified to States at the last Sectional but L5 States aren't until May 9/10 here in Virginia. Good luck to Pixie! I'm sure she'll do great.

Meg

We also have sectional Sat morning at 8 am and states later this month. DD is so excited and tells me that she thinks she going to to great but I haven't slept in two days!

We have states this Sunday. I think I'm more nervous about driving 4+ hrs each way by myself with the kids than I am about how Allison will do, lol.

I'm sure Pixie will do great! I'm amazed at the way these kids seem to pull it all together at the last minute.

Wow! There's more of us than I thought. Good luck to all of you! *BIG HUGS!*

Thanks for letting us kidnap the sectionals fairy it's much appreciated, lol! And so are all the words of encouragement!! You guys really are the best. You've even calmed my butterflies a bit!

Best wishes to all :)

Little Monkey has another Level 5 Sectional on April 18th and States is May 18-19 here in NJ. Level 5 is a loooongggg season, which is why she is doing the 3rd Sectional even though she qualified in the first...just to keep in practice.

We also start our USAIGC season this weekend, in fact tomorrow night (another freakin' late report time of 6pm). There are 56 girls competing!! Big DD competes Gold level for the first time since she got hurt right before the last Level 8 Sectional. In the meantime, while her ankle was healing, she slammed her arm real good into a beam last week, she was swollen on her forearm and red from above her elbow down to her fingers. She could not flex her hand or make a fist so she missed 2 days of practice this week!! Thankfully, for USAIGC she will do her L8 routines so it's not like she had anything new to learn. On the other hand, Little Monkey is competing Bronze AA - she is doing a simplified bars, the same beam as last yr with slight modifications, and a new floor routine. Vault is the same. In addition, she is also competing as a Silver specialist on FX so she will perform her FX twice, once with harder skills. It is going to be a long day, they have practice from 10 am to 1pm, cheering practice from 1 to 2, and a birthday party from 3-5...the b'day invite was accepted before we got our report times ...all along we thought they would be competing on Sunday!!!

I'm stunned they practise the day of a meet. Here we dont the day before or after. Couldn't she miss cheer practise? Wont she be shattered before she even starts.

I was shocked myself that they didn't cancel practice..... Well, cheer is a touchy subject, I would love to pull her except the cheer coach is also a gym coach and she will pull an attitude if the girls don't stay. Big DD will nap during the party (it's 5 mins from home) but little one will have to catch some zzz's in the car. It's one of her best friends otherwise I would pull her from that.

My dd's state is the weekand of May2nd her last meet was in March so they had a 8wk break in between it seems to be dragging along. They have been working mostly there L5 skills with such a long break not for sure what to expect.

Level 5 season does seem very long. We had our last regular season meet last weekend. Our Sectionals are next weekend. It's going to be a very long weekend. We have to be there Saturday morning at 7:45. It's 1.5 hours away, not sure if I want to stay over Friday night or get up super early Saturday. Next weekend our gym is also hosting the Level 9 Regionals meet so as a team parent, we have to work the meet. So, I'll probably be there all day on Sunday and my dd will probably have to run scores, too. It's no wonder my house is a disaster!

Our states are the first weekend in May. I'll take the sectional fairies wherever they are! My dd is so worried about not getting the 33 she needs to go to States. Poor thing. She puts enough pressure on herself at a normal meet. I can't imagine what she'll be like next weekend. I wonder, though, who will be worse, me or her!

Only our level 8 girls have their Regional's this coming weekend. All the other levels have been evaluated and girls moved up if they are ready. the girls are now starting to practice for the Sept - Dec Competitive session and I have to say they are doing a great job. My daughter (and all the new level 7's) just spent the last 3 weeks listening to music for floor routines. My daughter choose the Harry Potter theme (it so fits her) and it was the first to be approved. She is thrilled with her music. By the end of this month they all will have their music. One poor girl keeps picking music only to have the coaches say NO.

Good luck to all those still in their final stages of competition.

Harry Potter sounds like a fun one! I wonder why they keep telling that girl "no"? Are there certain criteria that the coaches are looking for?

We still have our state meet here in Virginia as well. Level 6/7 the first weekend in May! I'm just hoping DD can snap out of HER funk and go back to her tumbling pass for Level 6. She "lost" it at her last meet.... bad meet for her. And now I'm trying so hard not to focus on it.... but STATES ARE IN THREE WEEKS!!!!!! O.K. I'm done.

not so much a certain criteria but music that fits the gymnast is more like it. the music will be their music for 2 - 4 years (through the 7 and 8 level). so they do have to look at is the music too "Young" for this girl in a year, in 2 years etc. That is the biggest issue this girl is having right now. She is 11 but the music she is picking out is feels too young for her. the coaches have made several suggestions to her for something a bit more in line for a pre-teen to teen age floor but she or her mom hasn't like any of them. Right now the coaches have asked her to consider one called "spicy cooking" and she doesn't hate it but it isn't her favorite. I think its going to be the one she ends up with though as everyone has to have something picked by the beginning of May. Her mom likes it but is afraid that if her DD doesn't really like it she won't do as well when it comes time to preform.

this girl would do well with any type of Jazz music. Jazz fits her personality.
