Beam Shoes

Are beam shoes allowed during USAG competitions (Level 8)? My daughter has been wearing them during practice and likes the feel. Just wondering if she can wear them at meets.

Beam shoes are allowed during USAG meets if the gymnast insists on wearing them. I wore them for a time when I broke my heels and had to wear heal cups (before they made ankle braces with the built in heel cups). My coach didn't like them so I didn't wear them during meets. You do also have to remember that because they are on your feet they will draw attention and makes it easier for judges to deduct for foot problems. I have a book coming out this spring called Gymnastics in a Nutshell that lists tons of gymnastics accessories allowed in USAG including beam shoes. Hope that helps
