Proud Parent
My 6 year old recreational gymnast is going to a tryout for developmental team. They said the tryout would be 15 min I have zero idea what to expect. Anyone know what they will look for or ask my daughter to do??

Most likely some basic gymnastics... basic strength... basic flexibility.

I would ask for...
  • forward roll
  • backward roll
  • cartwheel / roundoff
  • handstand
  • bridge kick over
  • splits
  • pancake
  • rope climb
  • long hang pull over
  • back hip circle
  • leg lifts
  • walk on high beam
  • basic jumps on trampoline
  • straight jump off spring board
That's pretty much all I would ask for at that age.

Thank you! Are they looking for her to have these skills down?? She can do most, but she is struggling with her kickover and bar skills

Most would be just fine an our club.

At my daughter’s eval the coach only tested her strength/flexibility/balance and her ability to implement corrections. Those things plus a positive attitude will be worth a lot more than skills! She had all the L3 skills, most with decent form, but they never even asked to see them.
