So old hc came in tonight to work with the boys and wants ds to work on flops. He is supposed to watch videos of flops. Anyone have any idea what he is talking about? I am sure ds does, but he isn't the best at finding things online.

yeah I read that and got more confused. Went to the judges page, but couldn't find the video. So...lol

Not that I understand anything I'm posting here. Wasn't sure how far you got in your Youtube search!

LOL. Found a couple, but I can't tell the difference between anything on the videos...lol.....Maybe it is too late to try to understand pommel horse.....

Ok so my knowledge of pommel pretty much extends to reading and viewing the links you all just posted, but looking at those my guess is a flop is 2 connected different skills on the same pommel. That's what I see on the videos.

Flops are combinations of pommel loops and stocklis, with or without russians. A flop sequence fulfills group 4, and gymnast are limited to 2 flop sequences per routine. When you see a gymnast go circle, circle, turn, turn on one pommel - that is a flop. This NGJA document covers the flop rules for the current quad.

It has been reported that the flop rules will stay pretty much the same in the new quad (but they will now be group 2 instead)

Thanks KRC! that is exactly what D needed. This will help. Apparently he was already doing some of this in practice without even realizing it...sigh.
