Proud Parent
We had our first team meeting for T&T tonight. Our gym does not have a boosters program as it hasn't been successful in the past. We were told tonight that the gym is open to any form of fundraising we as parents some up with and they will help facilitate it. Does anyone have any great ideas that have worked in the past? We are hoping to avoid selling candy and the like.

We don't have a booster program either but our gym gives us opportunities to raise money toward meet fees by letting us work meets they hold (set up, break down, snack shack...). They run a few different fundraisers that you can do or not do including selling butter braids (Google it), Yankee Candles (all on line), and you could sell gift certificates for Texas Roadhouse restaurants. There might have been a t-shirt one too in the past.

The gym takes care of everything for us, we just send in the forms if we have participated in them and then distribute what we've sold. Some families have worked off half their fees that way, others don't participate at all.

All our fundraising is completed for the season by mid January.

I'm not on the parent committee but when we do big events, holiday party or end of year banquet, they do a huge leo swap. All the girls go through their old ones, wash them and put them in ziplocks with sizes and donate them to the gym. Then the parent group sells them. It's a great way to get a cheap leo - say $10 - and get ones you don't care if they get lost or trashed, and for the gym to get money.

At my other daughters cheer gym they have parents bring in a $25 gift card to anywhere. Then those parents can sell raffle tickets for $10 a piece. Everything they sell is theirs to keep. Whoever wins gets all donated gift cards. Usually around $750-$800 worth

If anyone you know is an Avon Rep, selling Avon (through a REAL Avon Fundraiser) can net good money.
We have done them in early summer (selling Bug Guard repellent and sunscreen and stuff like that along with bath products and make up) and in the late fall (selling bath products, Christmas stuff - including seasonal chapsticks, and make up).

We have had success with buying a one night stay at water parks (sleeps 6) and selling raffles for $5.00 a piece. We have made quite a bit that way. Also if your gym does exhibitions for rec and team those are always a great place to sell quite a bit in addition to the ones families sell.

Our parent group hosts Open Gyms and sleep over parties (with the cooperation of the gym) to raise money. They also sell concessions and little gymnastics nick nacks and stuff at these events. They also do Raffles at different times of year with donated items (like TVs or spa stuff for mothers day etc). They have also partnered with a local convert venue and they man a beer snack tent at all the concerts through the summer and get a percentage of the profits and get to keep all tips--I have heard this is a big money maker. My PTA did a silent auction with donated items from local business and it was a HUGE success. You can also see if any local businesses will do a fundraiser--like a resturant or Pizza place doing a dinner night where you get a percentage of sales.

Our gym runs parking at our towns festival in the fall. We also partner with applebees to host a pancake breakfast for anyone we sell tickets to.
