Northfield Gymnastics Club (NGC) in Northfield, MN has a 14,000 square foot facility. It has 4 girls teams that compete in Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA) and is the feeder program for the local high school gymnastics team. JOB DESCRIPTION:

Girls’ Competitive Head Coach


Coaching

* General

· Represent NGC at all MAGA meetings and communicate MAGA policies/information with the NGC board and competitive team families as appropriate.

· Establish summer camps for competitive and instructional levels, Work with Boys Head Coach and office staff to obtain coaches and create brochures.

· Establish self-development goals with Personnel Committee and work towards meeting those goals. Development of management/administration skills should be encompassed, as well as coaching skills.

* Girls’ Team and Pre-team

· Establish competitive team and pre-team practice and meet schedules. Make every effort to coach pre-team practices as much as possible, in addition to team practices.

· Establish minimum skills required for competition. Communicate those requirements clearly to athletes and parents.

· Provide positive encouragement to athletes. Develop an atmosphere in which hard work is rewarded with success.

· Set team goals and also develop individual goals with each athlete. Share those goals with parents. Conduct at least one parent/gymnast conference with each competitive member each season.

· Identify appropriate placement of team members on each team level, in consultation with team coaching staff

· Identify gymnasts ready to join team

· Provide feedback throughout practice

· Ensure all gymnasts receive spotting as his/her skill level dictate

* Instructional

· When needed coach instructional classes at different levels, as schedule permits Recommended classes: Mini-Mites and Intermediates, as they are direct feeders to the Pre-team an Team levels

* Meets

. Organize home meets for competitive teams

· Communicate with visiting programs about time tables and directions

· Secure qualified judges for home meets

· Determine appropriate division breaks at each meet

· Establish team rotations

· Work with the Competitive Representative to plan logistics of home meets (number of teams/gymnasts expected, time tables)

· Plan for ribbons/medals for awards (can be delegated)

· Communicate meet results to MAGA

· Attend all competitions (Team and Pre-team)

· Ensure appropriate assistant coaches attend competitions

· Ensure all necessary equipment is available at home and away meets

· Ensure meet fees are paid at all away meets

· Promote NGC home meets and encourage other programs to come to NGC meets

* Instructional Curriculum and Scheduling

. Collaborate with Boys Head Coach/Instructional Coordinator

· Maintain constant communication of daily operations and scheduling

· Provide guidance for instructional curriculum, including review and revision of lesson plans as necessary. Ensure that instructional program develops necessary skills for progression to competitive level.

· Assist Instructional Coordinator with scheduling as necessary

*Qualifications

∙ Gymnastics Coaching experience

∙ Available to work varying shifts which may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays

∙ Ability to lift equipment and spot children

∙ Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with students, parents, and coworkers



Hours and Pay

Up to $22 an hour based on experience. Part to full time position (all negotiable).
