Hi all

Need some help we would like to do a travel meet (GYM is in NYC) and would like to keep the drive to 4 hours or less any recommendations?

In MA, Little Bigger (Gym and More in Woburn, MA) is a fun meet and held over 4 days during President's Week, which is Feb vacation for many schools. So, you could travel and combine some sightseeing in Boston as well without rushing back for school. Would be fun for the kids if you want to make a mini vacation.

Another meet to consider (and I mentioned it on some other thread earlier today, actually) is Daggett's Invitational. This is the beginning of February and a really big meet. Venue is a college (Mt Holyoke I think) and it's in a huge gym. Both boys and girls compete at this meet.

Both venues should be 4 hours tops from the city.

both of these are good but both fill up VERY fast so if you are going to go to them then I would recommend doing it soon as they may already be full.

I haven't been to the little bigger as we have yet to sign up before it fills up. We have been to Daggett's at Mt Holyoke but the viewing set up is akward. They do have parking but you do have to walk to the gym area from another part of the campus (not too far but far enough in the snow)

Ocean State Classic at Twin River Casino in RI is a good one too with all levels for boy, girls and Prep-OP plenty of parking and the viewing was great. This too can fill up fast. Its usually around the first weekend in March. I think its the 3 -4 this year.

There are 2 in CT also one is put on by DSG the place that sells gym stuff called the Northeast Invitational the other is Gym Revolution team challenge. Both again fill up fast so you would want to check them out soon

Parkettes Invitational
Maryland Classic
Christmas on the Chesapeake
Brestyans Invitational
Star Struck Invitational
Robin Cone Invitational
Pink Invitational

Just to name a few, of course there are plenty more...

Cher, you are right about the viewing at Daggetts I had forgotten that!....this past year was a bit different from the year before as they had seats on two different sides. so we were able to get up and move to watch beam and bars. (though my daughter doesn't actually like me to be close on any event, particularly those!!) and, yes, forgot about the 'far, cold parking' too!! they had good vendors, though and that is always fun :)

we did Ocean State two years ago and all agreed it was the best seating ever....the movie style seating was never to be matched! and the younger girls all wanted the first place rhinestone crown! a bit different!! alas, my daughter placed 2nd or 3rd and had to settle for a trophy!

If you go to mymeetscores.com you will be able to see the up coming meets. You can choose to do it by state on the to right tab. While not all meets are there many top meets are. Ones with a star are annual meets. Hope it helps. :)

Pink is full, I know. We're going to that one and I can't wait! Our optionals are going to Parkette's.

Pink is a fun meet

Cape Cod classic over the New Years weekend is a fun one too but its full now.

There is the Starlight at MIT in Boston but that too is full. It was full withn 24 hours of them announcing it.

But both might be ones you might consider for next year.

My gym always goes to the DGS invitational. It is put on by Deary's gym ... big gym supply company. This means that all of the equipment is brand new and the goody bags are great. Last year my gym won a new balance beam and another gym got a nice new mat.

I was there for that It is good for the goodies and vendor its just the viewing that can be tough.

Pink is full and Christmas on the Chesapeake deadline has passed. You may be able to get into Capital Cup, Maryland Classic, East Coast Classic ( all very close to DC) or Parkettes (Allentown PA) but the compulsory levels fill up fast- Capital Cup is full at some levels.

Holy cow! What on earth makes it fill up so quickly? Do they give away puppies or something?!

It is a great meet. Right on the charles river in a prestegious college. It seems like all the gyms want to go to it. Don't know why other than that as they don't really have vendors but you can go to the MIT bookstore and get lots of MIT stuff. That always fun. That was where I grew up so for me its nothing special other than it my old neighborhood but for those who didn't grow up in Boston its a "wow" moment I'm sure.

If the deadline has passed call the gym to verify they aren't taking more in sometimes if they didn't get the turn out they want they will still take gym in.

Katie Baldwin in Lancaster PA is nice (Prestige). That is our home meet and it's a good size.
