How long before I can compete in gym meets

I've just started taking gymnastics classes at a local gym. After one class at begginer level I was bumped up to the advanced class. I was just wonderig what level does one have to train at before being able to compete at gym meets. Note: My gym does'nt have a team but another gym in my area does.:confused:

That is something you would need to discuss with a coach. If your current gym doesn't do team then you may have to talk with someone at a gym that has a team program. In some states there are competitive programs that are not USAG---such as AAU, prep opt, rec league. Some of these programs don't require as much training time and would be a good place to see how much you enjoy competing.

It all depends on the area you live in. You could join a team but you don't necessairly need to join USAG. Like I don't compete USAG, I just do local meets (and kick butt ;)). But it all depends. You should talk to your coach.
