In the Olympics do you have to do all four events?

How does it work with the like of Beth Tweddle then, who I understand only competes floor and bars?

Does she have to qualify separately as an individual? If not how does someone like that fit into a team dynamic? Do you have to sacrifice a good all rounder in favour of someone who may hike the team scores up on specialist events, or are there enough team members that writing off two events probably won't matter?

you can only put up 2 all-arounders. Beth just needs to make the team. her floor and bars are better than anyone on her team and at least top 3 in the world. not sure about floor due to recently hearing that she had her knee scoped. even that, she can still do bars. her routine is and has been one of the most exciting spectacles seen on bars for the last 10 years.

and she will have to qualify for individual event finals at the Olympic games when she competes in the Team round. and since the teams are not 60.0 strong down to the 5th member, i would guess that for most contender countries that dropping 2 events won't be a big deal.
