Hi

Im asking the coaches a question. Im a level 8 gymnast well going to compete level 8 this season. Im wondering what are the requirments for bars and floor beam and vault??? And what would be the easy-est bar routine to do fro level 8?

Alison

You can find the optional requirement chart here. As far as an "easiest" bar routine, that depends on the strengths of the individual. You should work with your coach to determine a routine you can perform proficiently that meets all the requirements.

I don't know where you compete, but typically a competitive vault will be a Tsuk or Yurchenko-style vault. Most Level 8 gymnasts have fulls in the floor routine, as well as a FHS layout, maybe into another front salto, and a layout or 1/2 to finish. Competitive beam routines generally have BHS, BHS and a RO or BHS dismount, and a good bars set should have at least giants and a layout flyaway, most coaches like to see a clear hip in there as well. Hope that helped.

I think the need for a clear hip in a bar routine with two giants is that a 3, 6, or 7 circling element is still an SR (as with L7). Isn't 3, 6, 7 clear hips/stalders/toe shoots groups?

Yes, the circle form the 3,6,7 group is required (clear hip, toe shoot, etc.). Dont forget the 4 a's, 4 B's requirement in adddition to the SR's!
