I like watching the older style better. I think that a mixture between the two, keeping fluidity, would be awesome!

Haha, I like te elegance of the older style quite a bit. But I agree all the hip hitting bar action looks painful.
 
I guess it depends on what your looking at. Artistically I prefer the 50's to 70's. I love the creativity and the artistic aspects of the 50's to 70's gymnastics. As for the technical aspects and favorite skills I would prefer the 90's and 2000's. The skills are much more difficult now (check out Emilie Lepenec's uneven bars routine at the 2004 Olympics) and are very well done. I find though that routines these days don't seem to be as artistic as they were.
