I did a search and found older threads where parents have talked about using Oscon supplements for treatment of Severs & Osgood Schlatter. Have any of you recently had any experience with this supplement - positives/negatives? I'd love to hear from parents and coaches alike if you've seen significant improvement, any side effects, or even if there was no noticeable improvement. Thanks!

My dd took them for her heels. We believe that the Oscon with diligent icing and stretches improved her pain in a couple weeks.

I gave Oscon to my 9 year old DD for her ankle injury that was a similar kind of injury to Sever's and Osgood-Schlatter's. It is hard to say how much it helped because I have no way of knowing how well it would have recovered without the supplement. She had a break from gym for a while, then went back with modified training, also saw a physio, specialist sports physician and a podiatrist and got exercises to do and orthotics in her shoes. So her recovery was likely from a combination of all these factors. My gut feeling is that the Oscon did help by reducing inflammation at the injury site and promoting healing.

Thanks everybody for the responses. I can only find positive reviews of this product online, not a single negative or neutral one, which makes me wonder. And our pharmacist and doctor have never heard of the supplement, so that make me wonder too. It's one thing for me to test out various supplements on myself, but it's another thing to test them out on our kids, ya know?

no concerns, it's safe for kids as long as you follow the dosage.:)

It only contains vitamin E and selenium, which you can buy at any health store and even some supermarkets, so there is nothing really weird in it. I think the Oscon supplement just contains a specific type of vitamin E and a specific type of selenium in specific amounts. Selenium can be toxic but it's fine if you keep to the recommended doses and don't take for a prolonged period.
