Proud Parent
I think my 10 yr old has it, we are going to the doctor today. The information on the web is very confusing about whether or not rest is needed. Does anyone have any experience with this? She is having mild pain that taping seems to help. Has anyone used the KT tapes? Thanks.

That is something the Dr.'s will have to help you with. It is a yes and no answer. Yes, if you rest and let the muscle atrophy it will get better (as long as the bone hasn't separated), but the real answer is to do stretches that don't exacerbate the problem and usually more fully develop the hamstring. Hopefully, this is someone familiar with this sort of thing (and your coach), and will have your daughter up and running (pun in tended) in no time at all. Good luck, and let us know how it goes. :)

Update! The doctor took x-rays and everything looks fine right now. It seems to be just her growing pains and we got the Rx of ice, rest, ibuprofen and tape. If it gets worse she will have to go to a sports doc.
