so i went on WOGA's website, and i thought it was a gym for primarily elite gymnasts, but apparently they have all levels...what im wondering is how elite gymnasts that are at WOGA get privacy during their practice/training...do they have a separate area than the "regular" WOGA kid gymnasts? do they have a separate WOGA gym in a different city, just for elites? im confused...

Why would they need privacy? Maybe I'm just confused by the question, but we have 3 elites, one at the caliber of Rebecca Bross and she just blends in during practices. Obviously, anyone there knows who she is, but she just practices like all the other girls. Now, with that said, she does practice some during the day when other kids are at school, but it's not a privacy issue.

well, that makes sense that they practice while everyones at school. i just thought that privacy would be an issue just because the elite girls (especially nastia) would feel uncomfortable with fans just sitting around watching them practice.

No there's no privacy, they train alongside whoever is there! It's pretty cute actually, the rec girls who know who they are sometimes say hi and they are always answered. It's not an atmosphere of ego, more of hard work. They have their own equipment, but it's very integrated with the gym in the layout. They may have to share floor at times but it's not a big deal. The team girls at woga are like ambassadors of the gym. They promote the sport as inclusive and fun to the rec girls. I don't know about the elite levels, but I've seen girls up to L10 escorting pre schoolers to the bathroom, grab band aids for rec kids who get scraped, and an assortment of other helpful tasks the coaches would have had difficulty doing while coaching.

All of WOGA's team girls, including the Elites train on the "team" side of the gym (which is open to the "rec" side). Although I have seen rec classes go over and use the "team" equipment. The Elites train so much, no one thinks twice about them being there. Everyone is so busy, team and rec kids, there isn't really any chatting or idle time for mingling.

Same at our gym. The elites practice just like everyone else, albeit more hours. In fact, DD's group sometimes does warm up together with the elite group, which I think is really cool. To DD, though, it's still just warm up.

I love having elites practice in the same area as the younger girls and rec classes. My DD sometimes comments as we're leaving, "I'm gonna do that some day!". It's very normalized and I believe it keeps them grounded to stay a part of the big gym "family".

when I went to WOGA and even my gym now they are just a gymnast, I do remember though I was level 5 or 6 when Carly was big and my whole team would get dead silent when she walked by same with Hollie Vise, and they would use the fact that we looked up to them to our advantage they would have us watch them and they would watch us. I was there for Nastia and it was different then cause her dad really did train her hard and I wasn't as young but no matter the age we would all kinda stop to watch her and stop breathing when she walked by :) but now at WOGA all elites are home schooled I can't off the top of my head think of who isn't, so they get work outs when everyone else is in school, so they can be apart of the gym not just an elite training all the time
