Tried searching and nothing popped.

Daughters comp leo is V back and front colored mesh but sheer on top.

She has need of a childs sports bra, clear straps.

I am not a GK fan (their customer service is horrible), its unavoidable at times but I no longer willingly give my dollars to them.

I could get her a sports bra through them but would rather not. Does anyone know of a similar item that is not GK..... I tried Amazon but not liking the choices that popped.....the GK item below

Thanks

Most dance supply stores will have something similar. If there is one in your area you can go in person to make sure you like it - either a standalone store, or some dance studios have apparel shops attached. If not, there is Capezio, Danskin, Bloch websites.

Raenn... I think that will be visible through the mesh. But thanks to you both for the search idea. I was searching gymnast sports bras.

Didn't think of dance............. o_O

dancewearcorner.com seems to have some backless styles with clear straps.

I will be looking for the same, so thanks for posting! I also didn't think to look at dancewear stores.

We saw some both at target and believe it or not....old navy.
Old navy also has some awesome ones for practice that are so cheap, i contemplated buying them for my kid, even though we are nowhere near needing them...i could stow them away.

For practice I could care less what she wears. I need a competition one note on the thingy showing

I'd try a ladies' lingerie store like Bras N Things. They tend to have a wider range, but generally don't cater to kids/younger tweens. If she needs a little more support or specialised straps etc (they sell detachable/adjustable clear ones! Used 'em under a formal dress) then those stores are good. Might be worth a look?

Otherwise dance stores and even Target might stock what you're looking for.

Could you also purchase cups from a lingerie store and just insert them into the leotard with a bit of sewing? If she doesn't need that much support, it's not generally a difficult job and guarantees no bra will show/move. I've never worn a leotard, so I don't know how feasible this is, but it's definitely worked for backless dresses of mine in the past.

I'm not sure I can wrap my head around my 11 year old wearing something from VS................... She's my baby girl......... :D:eek::D:eek:

Totally my issue
I know...my 12 year old has a couple sweatshirts from Pink and they are not inappropriate at all, but just the name...sigh....but it is a good suggestion! I was going to say a dance store too. Good luck!

OMG cups would freak her out. She is not mentally ready for "bras" but has developed a sense of modesty about her changing body and has taken to wearing undershirts this year. When I mentioned sports bras (um every month or so) she was completely opposed.

So now that summer is here I bought her "half undershirts" :D.

So she now wears them all.the.time. Even to practice under leos where until a week ago she never did.

She is not mentally ready for anything that looks like a cup at the moment.

So I am being proactive for meet season.

Haha, I remember when I first had to wear a bra, I was mortified! I'm rather blessed in the chest department, so it's always been cups for me and I forgot that might not be the case with everyone.

If it's just a modesty thing, the sports or underwear sections of most department stores might help you out. Or dance stores as others have suggested, if you don't mind paying a little more.

I have got good beige sports bra/ crop top type things with clear straps from Alpha Factor. There was a range of shapes to choose from to suit different leo shapes.

Ugh we are just getting here. My just turned 10 yr old is showing signs of "sprouting" and is not happy. Is so opposed to a sports bra but we definitely will have to invest. Happened so quickly on the week off from gym! She is kind of upset about this, did your DDs feel the same? Thanks for all of the good info!

I don't know if she is upset. She is not yet ready mentally.

She started "sprouting" (not height wise) end of last summer. Had never worn an undershirt in her life but asked at the beginning of the school year, and has not been without one since they arrived. She flatly rejected anything with the word bra. But they are hanging out of her summer shirts and straps showing depending of the shirt. Still didn't want to know from the word bra.

So I bought her a pair of very plain sports bras. Took off the tags. Told her I bought her a couple summer undershirts and put them in her draw. She started wearing them immediately.
I asked her if she liked them she said yes. Asked if I should buy more she said yes. So now we have thin straps, racerback, and thicker straps......

And she has been wearing them not only with clothes but the leos. So she might not want to chat about it. But she knows her body is changing and is self conscious. Its not like we have had to have a big talk because "the talking" has been on going for years. We will be doing more official talking over the summer though.

We ordered from Ozone. Works with leos that are cut low in the back. Unfortunately for us, my DD is so well endowed now that the bandeau style doesn't provide enough support anymore, so I'm on the hunt again...
