Hello, I understand they (judges) are looking for precision and tightness. Maybe they are looking for what they see in the Olympics, but I want to understand why when you look at a gymnast doing a routine that looks very good yet, gets a low score.

Are they looking for complicated movements, expression, quick movements, etc.?

What are they specific details to get a high score?

Thank you very much and have a blessed day!

connections, tightness, toe point, purposeful movement, exactness of turn, balance.
On floor... does the routine fit the music and all of the above.

The most important thing is doing the tumbling, jumps, and leaps with excellent form. A girl with lovely expression, perfect timing, and sophisticated dance will not place over a girl whose layouts/twists are high and completely straight and whose jumps and leaps are hitting or surpassing 180 degrees if the first girl is not doing those things.
