At least you guys don't have to pay a thousand dollars a month to stay insured.

Sure they do. But in Canada, and many countries in Europe, they call it "TAXES" instead of fees, and they have no choice but to pay them. Heathcare value, programs, service and support when you need it - all secondary concerns.

So imagine this: You pay thousands AND you can't see your family doctor when you are sick. Oh Yea.. that's SO much better of a system. :rolleyes:

Too right!!!!:D:confused::mad:

I was just joking with the beloved hubby last night that I should call on the 21st of every month and make an appointment for every month, that way at least I know if I needed to I could see me GP sometimes. I could always cancel if I happen to be healthy!!!

All I'll say is thank goodness hubby is a dentist, best friend is a vet and good friend is a nurse practiotioner, bro in law is a cardiologist, sis in law is a rheumatologist and hubby's best bud is a doctor in the nuclear medecine dept in Montreal and other buddy is a pediatrician. SO we can usually self/family diagnose and prescribe what we need. But I think for families without the contacts we have it must be a nightmare.

And boy we do pay taxes, Quebec is infamous for its high taxes.

Seriously? You can get into a doctor. The "months just because of socialism!!!!" is right-wing scare-mongering. I lost one of my best friends when he was 20 (and engaged) because of how broken healthcare is.

I don't hink it has anything to do with socialism, I think I am quite a lefty at heart. The money that goes into our system is huge, but it is managed very poorly. SOcialised health care is the only concept I could imagine living under, we all have access to a doctor somehow.

I too have lost a friend under this system as they had to wait 6 months for chemo/radiation and it was just too late. Both systems have serious issues that need fixing, people should not be without care under either system.

So...I have to get my wisdom teeth out this week :( I am terrified. Can anyone tell me their experiences with getting their wisdom teeth out? Oh, and did you get laughing gas or an IV?

Mine was surprisingly easy. I was really scared about it like you, but I got a shot that just put me under right away, and I didn't wake up until after it was done. It hurt for a couple of days afterward, and I had trouble with bleeding (you clamp tea bags between your teeth where the surgery was to help with that), but it was more annoying than really painful!
