I just go mine yesterday haha. This sounds really weird but when I do my kip I need to look at my toes in front of me or else I can't get on top of the bar. It took me a year to get mine too.
If it's a group thing, then we ALL start over. And keep doing it until it's right. If it's pushups or rockers, it barely goes noticed but if it is, they tell you to go back and do more.

Try them on the wedge, going down. It's soft, so if you fall you won't hit your head. And, you get more power going down. And then gradually, just work it onto the floor.

At our gym, we pick the music, but the coaches make the routine. Plus, if your DD is young, it's probably not the best idea ;) They know required skills and the choregraphy will usually be better. Good Luck
