So far, all of the video that DH and I have taken of DDs meets is grainy, too far away to see, and not worth watching again. Ditto for our pictures. Part of the problem is us : ) but part is that we don't have decent equipment. Do you have a video camera/camera you love to use?
Thanks!
Out of all of the the things we've done to help DD with her dyslexia and ADHD, I think gymnastics -- something she does for fun and for passion for the sport -- has been the best. She used to feel lousy about herself because, though she's very smart, she struggled so hard to read. "Everyone...
As our gymmie's practice hours escalate, I'm concerned about the impact on our other kids. In some ways we've found it good; gymmie daughter is a extrovert with ADD and loves center stage and when she is at practice, our more reserved kids come out of their shells a bit. I worry though...
You sound like a very kind person who reaches out to others when there are successes in the gym, as well as when you see others hurting. I hope that you feel very proud of yourself for that, as I'm sure your parents are. I'm so sorry that this kindness isn't returned and think that the adults...
Have you been to the meets where they give out rubber duckies for girls who don't fall off the balance beam? It seems to me that the girls who fell off should get the duckie.
Thank you so much for your kind replies and for notjumping all over me for asking/thinking about what's a hundred steps down theroad. I am not trying to imply that DD will always meet with the same successas she has in her short stint, just that I am getting lots of non-coachfeedback (I should...
I'm so sorry to hear abot your kiddo! Two of my kids get migraines. We try to avoid chocolate (very hard!), msg, and nitrates (like in hot dogs). They take OTC pain meds (ibuprofen works best on migraines) as soon as they feel even a glimmer of a headache. Also, they sometimes put something...
DD's gym will have conferences in a couple of weeks and I'm wondering what I should ask the coach.
DD is 8, Level 4 practicing Level 5, and started in gymnastics in August of 2011. She scored over 37 in the meets we've had so far and she won all-around in them, as well. DD seems to have raw...
So sad
How heart-wrenching! I'm sure it gave this little girl's mom some happiness to know her daughter has such a dedicated and caring coach. It's great that she was able to see her daughter's success.
Hi there,
First, congrats on your move. I hope you enjoy your time in Nova! I've read some of those past threads about Nova area gyms and have had a different (and much more positive) experience for our daughter at Capital Gymnastics. She's a Level 4 gymnast and her coaches to date have all...
Thank you
Thanks so much for the welcome, the reassurance, and the reality check : ) I was having the same reaction to the "late" concept for a seven-year-old but now that I've heard those comments several times in a row from the coach, I got sucked into the guilt. Aye yay yay.
I appreciate...
Hi everyone,
DD just started gymnastics in late August 2011 and is already on pre-team (Level 3). Her coach has said she is extremely talented (nothing to do with me or DH as she is adopted) and keeps saying, "Too bad I didn't get her six months ago because she would be competing." DD...
