I am so confused?! Can someone break down how exactly the regional qualifiers work? My gymnast is level 7 in GA. Do they take top scores in each age group? Or is it across the board? Who makes up the team qualifiers? And what is Allstars?
Found out that our district has a hybrid program where students can take one or two classes on line and the rest at the school. It is dependent on scheduling for next school year though if it would allow her to leave early. Keeping my fingers crossed because it would be a great arrangement for dd.
What makes you think this didn't happen either? I did tell her that I thought it was unfair and that sometimes life is unfair. The kid has learned lots of life lessons and dealt with them very gracefully. I'm constantly telling her to compete against herself and her last performance. She was...
Same here with the youngest group. My 10 year old just realized this year (level 7) that her 8th place aa would have been 1st in the oldest group at a recent meet, her first response was "I can't wait till I get to be in that group" quickly followed by the realization that would require...
I think our option is going to be taking a class (or two) online which will work, but am jealous of some of you whose schools are willing to be more accommodating. At least we have that option, sounds like some districts won't do anything. Thanks for the feedback!
Would love feedback from anyone has modified school schedules to facilitate gym practices? I know I have seen threads about it before but can't find them now. Trying to figure out how we will handle a later school day when daughter starts middle school and 4 hour gym practices. Kids don't get...
Kind of off topic but I always cringe when I read the articles about how early specialization for kids is horrible. I known there really isn't an alternative path for gymnasts as opposed to baseball, soccer, etc but I still feel guilty when I read them. And slightly embarrassed when other...
And I agree, disappointed IN is different than for. I would be disappointed in my child if she obviously made no effort or showed poor sportsmanship. Thankfully I haven't experienced that yet.
I could have written this post! My dd had her worst meet ever score wise this past weekend. So many things to be proud of. The fact that she really went for it on her handstand on bars, so much so that she fell the other direction! Was bummed when she split the beam, but so proud when she hopped...
What part of Marietta they are moving to makes a huge difference in picking a gym. I am going to assume it is either East or West Cobb and not Marietta city as those are the two most popular areas vs Marietta City proper. East Cobb could be an hour drive to GAA and 10 minutes to Roswell or GA...
So crazy to think that at 6 , her future potential is already determined at this gym. Sounds like it works well for them, but obviously not a great fit for your daughter. If the coaching is great, is it not realistic that after a year of excel she would be able to move into JO at another gym?
