My daughter would agree with you on this. When I mentioned the new gym had a reputation for being strict she said 'good that's what I want!' Like your DD she wants to be pushed and gets annoyed if there's too much down time.

Yes coaches at current gym very qualified and good mix of professionalism with fun. If I was guaranteed the new gym would have instructors with similar coaching styles it would be a no-brainer. However it's a much bigger gym so I presume the coaches won't be able to connect as closely with DD...

Hi. My heart is telling me to keep DD where she is. She's still progressing, gets a lot of attention and enjoys her time at the gym…but….she is always looking forward. She realizes she will eventually outgrow her gym. With no pits and limited amount of equipment it's inevitable. She only...

I will let you all know if we make the move! Dd's coaches are fantastic and I'm pretty sure they would understand and support the decision - but I get a knot in my tummy every time I even imagine the conversation! It's all so awkward isn't it??!! I'll be in touch - thanks so much for all the...

Thanks rd7. She's definitely not on the elite track as we've been to the meets and have seen what the girls just a year older are already doing. I would say she's a level 6 but training some of the level 7 moves. It seems much more straight forward in the States….here she competes 'in age' or...

Hi gymdog. No - no pits. And dd wants pits! Lol. There is the worry that she'll outgrow her current gym. It's a tough decision but will let dd guide the process.

Hi floppycat - I was thinking that too. A lot of up training goes on in the summer so we need to make the decision. I think we'll risk it and stay put (unless of course dd nags until I agree to the trial - but hoping she'll forget about it for a while). I've had some very helpful feedback...

Thanks for your posts. They have given me a lot to think about. I agree with Arie that gymnastics is the most important thing in her life at the moment but that could easily change in the next few years. She does opt to miss parties and school fairs in favor of training - and like Arie...

Interesting. Dd is definitely not on the elite track. She currently competes regional working towards national. She hasn't done a trial yet but I spoke with the head coach and went over her skills. I was honest and didn't embelish Dds abilities and that's when they told me 12 hours working up...

Thank you both for your input. In answer to MeetDirector....yes she would pick gymnastics over anything!! She is always in a funk when she has the day off from training. But in answer to BachFlyer the new gym does have the repution for strict, bullyish coach behavior. In fact five of their...

HI all. I am having a little 'head vs heart' issue with my dd. She's 9 and does 4 piece competitive gymnastics in the UK. She only made the team this year but has progressed loads.I'd say she's probably a level 6/7 in the States. She loves her gym, her teammates, coaches etc and she's very...
