Do you have a way for parents to communicate with you?
At my daughter's gym, they do not answer email, and you can't get them on the phone. You can leave a message and they will usually get back to you in 24 hours, but sometimes you have something to tell a coach about an injury, or an upset...
Thanks everybody! I wil check with the doctor, and hope to add in 2 days conditioning by the end of the month. But I will check with the doctor for sure.
These little things really hurt the little ones, and the not so little ones. When my dd got an injury and couldn't compete level 6, all of her teammates got lockers except for her. She couldn't get one until she competed here first level 6 meet, was the gym's rule.
She cried for 3 days on and...
My daughter suffered an injury to her knee in the early spring, and was out of gymnastics since March. After a full summer of PT, she was cleared by the doctor to go back on a modified schedule. Instead of going every day for three and a half hours, she goes M-W-Fr. she started out just going...
We have had a beam for three years. Of our 3 daughters, only one is a gymnast. All of the girls spend an equal amount of time on the beam, about o minutes a day for the last two years and eleven months. However, when friends come over, they often use the beam!
That is an amazing story and certainly puts my dd's little mishaps in their place! she has had nothing, compared to this kid! It also makes me embarrassed at how seriously I sometimes take the 3 month break she has to take to recover..it's not so earthshattering!
I love this train wreck and can't wait for the next episode. I would never have known about the show if I hadn't read about it here. Just another reason to love Chalk Bucket.
My daughter has been injured for the last 4 months, and I have to admit that while I of course want her to be all better, I love having her home those 4 hours a day, and I do not miss the commute at all. So I know what you mean that this sport is a heavy commitment of time away from family for...
If you are confused by the doctors treatment plan, you should get a second opinion. We once went for a second opinion and it was so different from diagnosis #1 that we needed to go to a third doctor as a tie-breaker.
My 12 year old has had three over use type injuries. Anything you can do to reduce the number of hard landings will be of lasting benefit to their joints.
That was a great article. I look back at all the meets that my daughter didn't medal in, and at least she's building her resilience! I'm going to send that article to some friends and bookmarking it as well.
My daughter did level 4 as a fourth grader- 9-10 years old! Three other level 4s were third graders, and two were fifth graders. All of the parents were initially appalled at ourselves for having the kids at practice until 9:30pm.
I will second gym law mom--get an orthopedist to keep an eye on it. it may turn out to be so minimal that it hardly matters, but your daughter could benefit from the orthopedists care.
My 12 year old dd has mild scoliosis. She had some back pain, and had pt, which helped, and then the...
