Just saw a picture of the whole team (including alternates), and they are all Rio bound. Figured I'd post here since a lot of us weren't sure if alternates were going to Rio. Glad to see them all looking well rested and happy. I can't wait to see them competing :) <picture is on their twitter page>

I'm not sure how the process works for alternates on the Women's side, the Men's side are all going to Rio (Donnell and Modi, Leyva replacing Orozco). Someone else mentioned that they'll be at the Ranch instead of Rio and I was curious as to why they don't travel as well. Some are speculating...

I can't even remember if I watched the '04 trials or not, but when I looked it up there were scores and apparently it happened in Anaheim. Top 2 gymnast got automatic spots and the other 4 were selected during training camp. Definitely by definition she's an AA gymnast and I think in her past...

Found an old PDF with trials scores Annia Hatch was 11th in AA during trials... I personally would consider her a specialist on the Olympic team because I just can't see her being used for other events (except maybe floor which is typical of vault specialist, beam for bars specialist).

Thanks for the correction :) I knew she used to compete AA, but I honestly couldn't remember if she competed it at trials. Was she one of the top AA gymnast in 2004? I consider a "specialist" someone who is not a top AA... because I assume most elite gymnast can perform on every event to some...

Does anyone know why alternates aren't taken to Rio (like they do on the Men's side and Women do for Worlds)? Wouldn't it make sense to have them there in case someone gets injured at the last minute. Then they could be at peak form if they needed to sub in for anyone. And, the alternates could...
