Pretty typical at lower levels. If they’re not getting new skills it doesn’t make sense to pay the money or put in the time on team. They can enjoy doing the skills they like, but if your not moving up levels to get to at least about level 5/6 skills it really isn’t worth it to be on team.
I help coach bronzes/silvers at my gym twice a week. The biggest thing is drills at this level. Having many different drills/stations to focus on the basics and keep them moving is generally the best way to keep everyone productive and happy!
As a Level 9 I do a tsuk layout from 61 ft. Lots of the girls at my gym start at 50 ish for timers. You don’t need a very long run if you know how to maximize your power so try to make 50!
My friend has this. Just got back to the gym after a few months off. She’s starting with nothing bending there back to much and no hard impacts putting excess stress on it. Take it slow and monitor any pain or discomfort so it can be handled.
Unlikely but possible. To go D1 you’d wanna be a L10 by junior years of high school (3 years to go from level 5/6-level 10) and this would probably be a lower level D1. It’s really hard to move up levels that fast, especially higher levels so it’s very unlikely. Do your best to enjoy gymnastics...
Depending on where you live there are growing opportunities for adult gymnastics and you can continue Xcel as long as you want! I’ve seen Xcel definitely through college so it could work whether you wanna stay in Xcel through college then go to adult gymnastics or make the transition sooner!
There was just a girl from the gym down the road from us with a 34.775 regional AA that qualified. She didn’t detail in her post but she didn’t have any stand out events she’d specialize in unless a 9.2 on floor counts?
When I was 9 learning a flyaway I had a major accident where I dropped off pit bar almost straight down and my knee went to my mouth. This isn’t to scare you just to let you know it does become easier. With help from my coaches we slowly went back to them spotted and got it back for my...
Salto connections should be allowed. Not sure if there is a restriction on amount of B elements (like front pike) you can do but a front tuck front tuck or a front tuck front pike should be okay as long as you don’t have two many b elements if that’s a restriction (I would double check with...
This is what’s so difficult is because it is supposed to be a competition between regions, but then girls who really deserve it more don’t get to go sometimes. In Region 6 we have girls qualify with a 34.5-35 all around, pretty low bar for nationals in my opinion.
I prefer to put my foot down as I’m coming down from the handstand. Makes it fluid, plus my legs are short and would struggle to reach the bar from a locked out handstand.
My gym puts a mat in the gap. Helps everyone feel comfortable. Can you ask your coach if you could put a small pit pillow or crash mat there to help alleviate stress?
That should be okay then. Focusing on breathing techniques and stick to the best pace you can. If you get that sick to your stomach feeling/throat feeling then slow down a bit and catch your breath. Practice will make it better overtime and as long as you stretch afterwards a few minutes you...
