@wandrewsjr, you're good! :) Your guesstimates were right on. She didn't make it this year, but it's a huge (20pt) improvement over last year. One more fact that shows me that our decision to switch gyms last year was the right one. She's not too sure whether TOPs is the 'right' fit for her...
Thanks, she got credit for 10 leg lifts (5 points) & she only got 5 points for presses, so I'm guessing she missed it this year :( Oh well, I'll let you guys know when we find out for sure.
@wandrewsjr, you sound like you know what you're doing :) would you mind guesstimating for me, please?
DD is 8, testing as an 8 year old:
Splits: 14/15
Bridge:5
LL: 10
Presses: 5
HS: 23.25
Rope: 8.34
Jump: 16
Casts: 9
Run: 3.57
I'm guesstimating her to be somewhere right on the cusp of 70...
Too funny! I have not been able to find bottles of Elmer's Glue in the 8oz size, which apparently my daughter needs for kindergarten. I've been to 3 stores so far (they were within walking distance of each other) but all I can find are 4oz bottles. I am going to check my local grocery store...
My daughter worked on standing tucks during the same time she learned them in tumbling passes, but she's definitely more confident throwing one in a pass.
My oldest daughter is quite the opposite. She is uber flexible, think contortionist-like. Now that she's getting older & training more her strength is really starting to increase, but it's definitely something she's struggled with; mainly upper body. Her coaches & I have noticed that with a...
Thank you, I think I really needed to hear that.
I have heard that virtual school can be a good alternative, it will definitely be something I will consider if this year seems too stressful.
The clipboard, snacks & supplies are great ideas! There were way too many times I relied on her last year to remember pencils & she would inevitably forget causing unneeded stress on both of us. I am definitely going to have to ask about homework ahead of time, again, I really really really...
@Cher, thank you too for your response. It's so nice to hear that other moms/parents are going through the same though processes. She did the whole homework in the car routine last year too, and it worked out fine, but I think I just let my worrying get the best of me. :)
I think I may try...
Thank you for your response. She is only entering 3rd grade, 8 years old. It's tough because there aren't a lot of other kids who have a schedule like her, even the kids that she's in the gym with because most of them are older & they live in town. We have definitely considered homeschooling...
How do you guys balance it? Especially with those of you whose daughters or sons are training 16+ hours per week.
Belle's gym is an hour from our house & she trains 16-18 hours/ week; four weekdays & 1 weekend day. Last year I pulled her out of school 30 minutes early on gym days, which...
Waaay too many, but that's my addiction :)
We probably have 40-50 for two girls. I routinely get rid of ones that don't get worn often, but they still seem to pile up. :)
Does anyone want to play with my daughters numbers, please?
She is 8 and tested as an 8 yo.
Splits 14/15
Shoulders 5
Leg Lifts 10
Casts 9
Vertical 16
Presses 5
Handstand 23.25
Run 3.57
Rope 8.34
Thanks so much, we're so anxious to find out!
Hi, I'm new to the forum too.
My daughter is also 8 and will also be repeating level 5 (for most of the season), and I couldn't be happier. She is going to be so well prepared this year, and her confidence will skyrocket. She is training her 6/7 skills now, so that way in another year she'll...
Hi everyone! My name is Abbie, I have 2 girls currently in gymnastics. My oldest, Belle, is an 8 year old level 5/6 gymnast; and my other daughter, Anna, is a 5 year old preteamer.
I have some videos on youtube of Belle, not sure if I can post the link?
Glad to be here!
