GAGymmom, 1st Congrats to your DD on her 1st place Bar win!
some people are incredibly rude and just want to stir the pot and be jerks.
My DD once won Bars at a L9 meet with a 8.3. Let me tell you we both were shocked. But it was almost more exciting. I would be hurt and offended if anyone...
IF your DD is "in it" for the long haul, she is going to need her teammate for support in the upcoming years. Creating rivalry, animosity and tension is a recipe for disaster.
For my DD it was all about getting the skills and moving up. She wanted to be with 'The big girls'. Then it was like a "grade" She say the next level as the next grade. SO 2 years in L7, meant she HAD to move to 8 or she was failing. Then 2 years of 8 meant she HAD to go to 9.
Then she hit L9...
My DD is doing a FHS BHS for L9. A BHS BHS connection has been a major fear issue for her over the past 4 years. She was given connection for the 1st time on her FHSBHS in a meet on Saturday. We had a big celebration.
Like Granny, My DD is a Sophomore in high school. She is feeling the same pressures are you are. A couple things she has found helpful is to use all class time to her advantage, rather than visiting with friends if there is free time tries to get as much homework done. She also write lists...
By saying the other two girls are "a Lot' older I would assume they are teenagers. And they woudl surely understand not being invited to a 8 year old bday party.
Do you know the parents at all? you could always say something to their mothers.
What is the rule for Cell Phones in your DD (or DS's) Gym?
There have been some cell phones stolen in the locker room recently.
But HC just told all team members that they need to keep their phones at the front desk. Apparently, a few team members have been texting in between rotations and...
DD is ALWAYS fastening and refastening her Velcro Grips. But I dont think I can get her to try a pair of Buckle ones. She goes through about 2 pair a year. I better order another back up pair now that meet season is around the corner.
I agree with GymMomToo. I wonder if the coach meant she could compete this season not next if she would have started earlier.
7 is not too late at all. My DD started early but she didnt really "get" the concepts until 7 or 8 of how to keep her body tight. She was also a Terrible listener until...
My DD had been sick for most of the Week missed 3 days of school and 3 days of gym. Made it to school on Day 4 but could hardly practice. She was a L7 at the time. By the time the meet rolled around on (on Sunday) DD was feeling fine. But because she had missed a week of practice HC said no...
When my DD was little I thought Shootovers (*Bailes) were the scariest thing in the world. But then she trained them and I can easily watch those.
Switch Leaps on beam.. For whatever reason those scare me
We have been to the Wisc Dells Meet. and DD competed at the same venue when they hosted Region 4 Championships.
We stayed at the Chula Vista and the Great Wolf. Overall our kids like the Great Wolf Better than the Chula. Especially if you have younger kids.
