WAG Alternative schooling and issues with colleges

We are considering Laurel Springs next year. Have you had any concerns about the academics along the way? I worry that they will fall, under disfavor like K-12 did and then you are scrambling for another program. I'd love to hear how things worked when you first switched to Laurel Springs and if...

    WAG Level 8 1/2?

My understanding is that the changes for 8 were small. Allowing for a few C skills. Does anyone know specifically what C's will be allowed on each event?

WAG Experiences with injury recovery time?

Broken elbow, epicondylitis bone chipped and wedged in elbow. Surgery that week. Immobilized for 4 weeks. Slowly built up to old skills. Able to vault, tumble, beam but has not tried release bar skill even though she should be physically capable. It's the brain saying I got hurt pretty bad...

WAG Tsuk Layout - Are they allowed in L8?

My dd does Tsuk lo better than Tsuk pike as well. She scored very well on her Tsuk pike last year as an 8, winning vault consistently, a good sign for your dd vagymmomma. She must have great block to feel more confident with lo. Mine is soooo afraid of the yurchenko and avoids practicing...

WAG Does talking with the coach really make a difference?

Thank you to everyone who replied. I decided it was a knee-jerk reaction to talk to the coach and ask why she wasn't with her usual teammates. It might help me feel better by expressing my concerns but our coaches really are fantastic and I am sure they know what they are doing. As mentioned...

WAG Does talking with the coach really make a difference?

I watched dd's practice yesterday. Her practices are very long and I usually just drop her off at the curb and hubby picks her up at the end of practice. DD's group that has been training level 9 was split. It appeared to me that she was with the "low expectations" girls. The fact that they...

    WAG New Hours

My dd11 went from 12 to 18 hrs due to a move. It was tough on her at first. She lacked the stamina the other girls had and of course, it involved new coaches, teammates (and new teachers, school, etc) so she was exhausted both mentally and physically for a month. But then everything clicked and...

    WAG first international :O packing

Food. We had a team girl who competed at Worlds in Japan. She really struggled with eating things that were her "go-to" pre-meet foods. She had a coach her arrived after she did bring tuna fish and peanut butter! Seems funny since I love eating local cuisine when I travel.

Parents Getting support from your child's school

We met with DD's headmaster yesterday. This would be a new and unique situation for them so they listened as to why we hoped it would work. All in all, it seemed very positive and we hope they will get back to us with a way to make the shorter school day work. I really appreciate all the advice...

Parents Getting support from your child's school

I think I will just print your response out IWC and hand it to them! Seriously, your perspective is just what I needed to hear and it will be helpful for my meeting.

Parents Getting support from your child's school

She is going to be in 7th grade, training level 9. The issue is getting home late and staying up til 10:30 on homework. It seems the norm in our area is to have the kids do an online math or science course but those are her best subjects so I want her in the classroom. Art or music seem like a...

Parents Getting support from your child's school

We are meeting with my dd's school next week to see if they might allow dd to leave early 3+ days a week. They do not offer this now, although the school athletic teams do leave for soccer or volleyball, etc. I need advice on what to ask for during this meeting. How much do I share about our...
