DD only started using grips after her L8 season last year. She could have gone longer as she wasn't peeling off or anything but because release moves were in her near future, they decided it was time. It took her 2 weeks and she was doing everything like she had always done. It was a really...
I have used teamsnap also for my boys' sports teams. GroupMe is a good way to group text a lot of people but still works with phones of all types and if the parent doesn't have the app, it will show up in their regular texts, so that's kind of nice.
Wow. Who is sitting with a clipboard keeping track of everyone's "mistakes"? That sounds terrible. What a way to put emphasis on the negative all the time.
We do this a couple of times a week. School is out at 3:15pm each day and DD leaves early MWF at 1:30pm. We work it out with her individual teacher each year (she is currently in 4th and has been leaving early since 2nd) and the principal is aware but is fine with it because she's keeping up...
Watching Mikayla split the beam freaked me out! DD's eyes just about bugged out of her head. If anything though, it showed her that even these girls make mistakes and have a bad event.
Thank you! I didn't realize there was something smaller. I was just looking at them on Amazon but I'm sure there are other places to get them that would have the XS. You're right though, couldn't hurt to have them on hand!
My DD is a 9 yo and training L9 and she struggles to get more than maybe 2 but she doesn't really work them consistently. She's never done the TOPS program so presses haven't really been the focus for her. She has said doing them on the floor seems to be the hardest vs. parallettes or beam.
I've been curious about these... some have mentioned that the smaller gymnasts don't seem to need them because with their lighter weight there is less impact, but is there a time that is too early to put your child in these? DD is training L9 right now but maybe weighs 55-60 lbs. The tiger...
I don't think anyone ever relinquishes their spot on the National Team. It's my understanding that it's just tough to keep it and with her injuries, etc, I'm sure she wasn't offered a spot back on it.
My goodness. Good thing DD has serious floor music and not something cutesy anymore. She has yet to smile on floor aside from a quick one at the judges as she salutes at the end. Hopefully her serious face looks intentional for the music's sake.
The girls at our gym with potential for tops/hopes/elite get picked out no later than L6 and invited to an extra practice. They don't compete tops but work the elite routines adding in the required skills as they get them. When coach feels they are ready, they get an invite to the ranch - this...
