WAG Kathy Klages coaching at Twistars!

I don't think any of this has affected business much. Invitational still full, look at the numbers on my meet scores also camp is still full. There are quite a few good gyms many with college recruits within 2 hours of the gym including at least 3 in metro Detroit with great gyms. Many parents...

    WAG Compulsories

Not to hijack the thread but DD skipped L4. Her coach was new and didn't know any better. Went from L3 to competing L5. Not doing the flatback vault in L4 gave her FHS vault troubles for years. She will now compete either L8 or Diamond this year. Its not fixable she cant go back and test out...

WAG Level 10 nationals in Cincinnati 2018!

Is that where the Buckeye Classic usually is? Or the R5 Cup meet? We have been to both. I loved that Buckeye Classic didn't charge for spectators.

Parents Another round of "Your kid might be a gymnast IF..."

When your 8 year old daughter vaults through the kitchen bar and lands on the Grandma who is minding her own business reading on the sofa. The answer to Why? "I didn't know anyone was sitting there."

Parents Totally off topic question...when did you have your DD start shaving her legs??

You are so right about the bigger fish to fry. My DD is so independent she just kind of decided to shave on her own at about 13.5 and also one of the bigger fish without my help. However my girls and I use this shaving cream called Cremo. It is fabulous! No cuts for either of them and the bonus...

    WAG Musicality (or lack thereof)

You are so right. I think Wow! That routine just seems to be just going along with music playing as a side note. I wonder if some are choreographed at all. It is so strange when nothing but the beginning and end match the music.

WAG more black eye for college gymnastics

I am not sure if it's a conference thing or not but Paige Zaziski transferred from Arkansas to Michigan and competed without a waiting period. Which made my daughter very happy as she is one of DDs favorite gymnasts.

Parents Wanting to branch out or nearing the end of gymnastics and doesn't realize it?

Yep, I think you are right. She has a pike tsuk but no Yuri yet. Is a Yuri without a flip like the timers they do up to a mat but landed instead? She has been training front, fronts also but I haven't seen them. She said into some type of pit mat but once she had what was according to her one of...

Parents Wanting to branch out or nearing the end of gymnastics and doesn't realize it?

Update,DD has decided with help of HC to do Xcel diamond. We had a private talk and HC said not only is she not progressing, she is losing skills. She stated she has no idea what to do with her. It worries me that HC has never coached higher than L 8. My DD would have been the guinea pig. So...

WAG It's a Good Thing I Love My Kid!

While we are confessing dumb things that happen to good leo's and warmups I have one. Last season I ordered all new things for DD. Stupid Puberty! New warmups, under stuff. Leo $360.00 total. So we came back from a meet and DD left her gym bag open on her dresser, the stupid cat peed in it...

Parents Wanting to branch out or nearing the end of gymnastics and doesn't realize it?

I haven't broached the subject of Xcel with DD yet because in the past it was an emphatic no. However If she were to change, we have a pretty good xcel team, mostly gold and silver but 2 platinum, having competed 2 years of L 7 where would she enter as an Xcel according to the newest COP? I...

Parents Wanting to branch out or nearing the end of gymnastics and doesn't realize it?

Thanks for the input. Alot of valid points. I think alot of times especially with gymnasts, they are mature beyond their years and excel at so many things we may let them do more than they can handle. I think we may be reaching the point when the child's not the gymnastics parent needs to step...

Parents Wanting to branch out or nearing the end of gymnastics and doesn't realize it?

So 14 y/o DD came home from 9th grade welcome night super excited about HS sports. She spoke to a couple of coaches and would like to try out for volleyball in the fall and soccer in the spring. She has played volleyball for 2 years and really loved it, however it really stunts her growth in...

    Parents Positive words

This can work both way's. My DD was having a terrible beam night, just couldn't seem to stick anything. We were on our way to the car she was feeling pretty discouraged when a younger rec level gymnast came up to her and said "You are awesome." It made my daughter smile, she was pretty grateful...
