    Splits and Stretching

I have been doing this, but my pt overbuilt my muscles instead of helping me stretch. Now that made it worse. I moved pt's recently, and my new one is doing much better.

    Splits and Stretching

I am in lvl 6/7 and had an injury during my year of lvl 5. My coach overstretched me and I tore my hip in multiple places. Now, I have a tight hip and hamstring. I can usually go all the way down on the previously injured side, also my good side (left), but on the other side the hamstring is...

WAG This Might Be the End of Gymnastics for Me

Yeah, I guess it doesn't matter since you can really do gymnastics after 18. Thanks though!

WAG This Might Be the End of Gymnastics for Me

The abusive coach retired. The coach at my most recent gym that got mad is the kind of person that will not let me come back. She is slightly self-centered and has a bit of an ego.

    Is it too late?

You have a chance. Just make sure you love gymnastics beyond words. it will be a hard journey. if you quit because you don't think you will make it to elite, you won't realize how much gymnastics means to you.

WAG This Might Be the End of Gymnastics for Me

So, last season, I moved gyms due to abusive coaching from one particular coach. I was in Level 5, and when I moved to my new gym, they decided to put me in Level 6. I competed an okay season, I was off on injury for a month not long after I got there, and was very sick during State meet. I...

WAG I can’t set in my round off back tuck!

Here are a few solutions: 1) practice a roundoff rebound. -do this until you have a solid set 2) setting drills -using a solid mat at least 10 inches, sit up against the mat (the mat is lengthwise, flat on the floor). Reach forwards into a pike stretch, then slam your hands back onto the mat. If...

    WAG No Gym

My gym is currently closed. I don't know how long I will be out of the gym. What should I do in order to keep my skills up (besides stretch, condition, and do like easy skills in my house)?

WAG What do your children wear to training?

Hoodie and leggings before/after practice, but leotard and shorts during a non-competition week. We are not allowed to wear our competition uniform or warmups outside of competition.

WAG Bent arms on beam BHS?

Yes it is a deduction (of about .1 I think, but I could be wrong) and it is very dangerous to continue doing a bent-arm BHS on beam.

    WAG Giants

I would take a step back and focus on drills that are specifically for timing of tapping. Do this for about 2 weeks (with little to no work on actual giants) or until the drills are more than perfect. Then have them try giants for a week. If it does not improve, repeat this pattern until the...

    WAG Level 6 tumbling

I don't think so - as long as it is less than hip width. Plus, deductions are better than pain.

The same. If everyone is short when we start, of course it will change as we ALL grow.

I 100% agree. this will help calm her down (at least it worked for me)

    WAG Competition nerves

That happened to me once...if I ever feel like that, I want my parents to offer their support but overall give me some time alone. Chances are she was just tired/hungry/etc. so it will pass. Sometimes kids (especially that age) don't understand as well as older girls. I would just give it time.

    WAG Beam dismount question-copper2

If she is doing a 10 second handstand chances are she is way outside the time limit which can result in up to a 3 to 5 tenth deduction. Maybe the problem is there, especially if the routine is 90 seconds? I would ask the coach about it because these things are important. Even though the coach...
