To me, I think whilst the kip was harder, I was afraid of flyaways, though I could kip easily. I also preferred the front walkover to the backwalkover myself.
For me, floor and bars usually came easy in 5 - 6, beam was always the hardest for me, I could not get myself to do a backwalkover without spot anytime other than competitions.
Love this post.
I'm a big crier myself, mainly because I get afraid of certain skills. It's like a stack of dominoes, my mental block causes my coach to get frustrated, getting me into an even worse state, usually ending in screaming from the coach and tears from me. I've been trying harder...
I agree, commitment's a big part of it. Hmm, but 20 - 30 hours seems a bit much, I still only have 16 hour practices as a level 8 - thought that was average.
Definitely. (: I'd always forget my routine in compulsories (still do!) but now I can kinda improvise. Also, the judges aren't looking at the book to compare your form with a random drawing.
I was never a good compulsory - my form was terrible, some of the skills I was positively horrible at ( back extension rolls, the dance on floor and beam, bwo on beam, and for some reason I'd always fall on the poses ) but in level 6 I had my fhs front pike, so it was kind of a drag not to...
Hey, level 8 meet today! :) I got my vault, but I'm nervous for beam. I need to get my bwo bhs at least, but I keep stopping between each. Everyone tells me it's easier to just go for it (righttt...) so prayers and the bwo bhs on beam fairy are needed!
Hey. :) Well, I'm a level 8 and I have to compete yurchenko tuck, but now I can't even do a handspring. :p I need to get it by next week though, 'cause my coach said he'll send me back to level 4...so prayers and the vault fairy are much needed!
Exact thing happened to me - once in level 5, I was wornking so many backtucks, that when the time came to do a bhs series, I couldn't do it :)
Lately, I've been working yurchenko tucks, and then I soon realized, I can't do a handspring. XD
