I am the only person who can chalk the bar. I have some that like more and some who like little. So I mildly chalk it up and tell them to get in order of chalk lovers in front, chalk haters in back. If they dont have their act together by the time im done chalking, they have to deal with it! Im...
I do "kip pull downs" with my level 3 and 4's. They use a 9lbs (or 3lbs each hand weights for the little ones) weighted yoga bar. Lay back down on the floor with arms extended above head, while they hold their bar/weights. and simply bring the bar over head then to their upper thighs. emphasis...
My DD (6 years old Level 3) got her kip last night! :)
Now she has all of her Level 4 skills and routines (and she already scored out of L3!), now all she needs to do is turn 7! ;)
thanks everyone. I have seen it mostly done from mat sitting, but I HATE how it looks. I prefer to have them stand. I guess I will ask the judges if they have a preference :)
How do you determine your event comp. order? I know some gyms keep it the same at every event at every meet. Some will stagger their better competitors with their weaker ones...
What do you do?
What is the proper way for the L3 to salute after their vault (Handstand flatback)
Do they have to sit up on the mat and salute, or can they get off the mat, stand on the floor and salute?
Im a coach and my DD is a level 3 (she is 6 years old) When I train the girls harder in the uptraining season, I usually put her on a paleo diet (not to strict though, I like her to have oatmeal for one snack and homemade granola bars, and wheat crackers with hummus, or baked potatoes...

the pause between the glide swing and PO. She regripped her hands and stood too long. It should be a hop. Their should not be a full chin up position held before the PO.
Swing before the pull over.
Bent arms in FHC.
bent back leg in shoot threw.
Bent back leg in mill circle.
Few steps in landing...
When was your teams first meet this season, and how many do you have per level? We are on the East Coast.
We are STILL waiting ;p (im so excited and inpatient) our first meet is Nov 2/3 for my L3,4,5,6,7
We only have 5 meets, plus one homeshow, and states. I feel like this is not enough for...
I give my daughter raw almonds with pumpkin cream cheese (or any other flavor) to dip. Raw veggies with hummus or dressing dip. Apple with PB, banana with PB, rice cake "sandwich" with PB in the middle!
I took on the L4 team at my gym in the middle of summer. They were quite a mess. I just wanted to brag and say that I brought the team from having 4 of 9 girls able to handspring vault without a spot, to my whole team vautling! Im so proud of them!
What successes have you had recently?
Her coaches should be doing squat on drills with her. And having her do repetitive squat ons while her knees hold something (a bean bag, scarf, wrist band.....)
Good luck
I am a wife of a AD military hubby. We are stationed on the east coast from Ca. If you know anything about Ca college gymnastics, you have seen the State Ca bears team wear their neon yellow nikes to every meet. I like to carry this tradition with me to the different gyms I coach at. Im curious...
I recently hired a massage therapist that specializes in sports medicine. My daughter seeing him once a week for an hour. It has been helping a lot, plus he gives me some tips to work with her at home.
I am willing to go anywhere! But our gym is tiny, and I dont think the owner and most of the parents would be up for flying. Since its already so close into the season, im going to suggest a travel meet next year! :)
My boss slightly missed the deadline for our "big meet" of the season. So im in search of something for us (level 3-7) on the east coast. Preferably in jan or feb. We were going to do the Pink meet, but like I said, we were too late. Im thinking Excalibur! Another good ones I should look into?
