1. Dd's group practiced with the head coach the other day when one of their coaches was out. HC coaches level 8 and above, I think, so does not know the compulsory kids at all. HC gave her a correction and dd said it really helped her make a big improvement, so she was sure to do the correction each time. She said HC noticed and complimented her, and asked her what her name was. Dd was thrilled! She was sure to tell me that HC did not ask any of the other girls their names.

2. Her coach told her she almost has her kip. She said her form is great and her kip will be great when she gets it. She told dd that she could compete it (in level 3) if she gets it. Dd was very excited!

Dd asked me if she would get it this week. From what I've read on here, it could be months or more! So I just smiled and said, "Maybe! Keep working hard!"

Congrats to your DD!! I vividly remember the kip stress. It's so exciting when it finally happens!

Things my DD is excited about:
1. Finally getting over being scared of her BHS on beam. It has been an up and down cycle for a year. Having them, losing them, working back up to doing them on high beam, getting a mental block, getting past that, to now connecting two of them.
2. Getting her giants a few weeks ago. Still a ways to go in terms of making them competition ready, but they are there at least! And she doesn't have to compete them this year. But of course she really wants to.
3. Meet season approaching. She LOVES competition. She counting down the weeks.

Moving to optionals after her meet this weekend. She cannot wait to start getting that floor routine choreographed....she loathed the level 5 music, because it reminded her too much of ballet. Ironically, it was probably good for her, because she (shhh) rather sucks at ballet, hahaha...

hmmm,

D is happy about
1. the first school dance this Friday night
2. GOing to universal in February
3. That his phone is charging again..

oh! Gymnastics...
4. His double front dismount off high bar
5. his peach on pbars
6. That he might finally get to tumble again this week!

I just asked my dd what else she was happy about that was not gym related...and she said mom, don't kill my moment here... (to be fair, her meet was only yesterday, and she is young...) After more harassment she said she was happy she got to help wash the dog.
That's all I got.

That's great. I'm curious about the double front from high bar. How long did it take him to learn? Can he control the landing?

DS is doing double front off rings, but he's just doing a double back off HB. He's level 10 this year, so he'll lose .2 with the double back. His coach says the double front landing is hard to control, but I feel like, if he's doing it off rings, why not try it on HB too.

He is landing on a mat in the pit right now. Saturday he was under rotating a bit so he was landing short. He is hoping to get it to a mat by October. Kid loves front landings....

ODD is fantastically happy to be doing gymnastics. Specifically she feels her flyaway is looking good. She is happy to be back in school and very happy that she's starting to understand her Spanish textbook. She's happy that she has two visits with far-away friends planned for the next two months.

YDD is happy with her barani pikes and that she learned front and side aerials. She's excited that her coach is going to teach her BTs on floor instead of just the ones in her trampoline routine. She is happy with math. She is happy that the pool is open till her birthday in October. She is happy we are going to a science museum in a week. She is really happy to stay up till midnight and do school in her undies (lol).

ODS is happy to be back after an injury that had him out for a little over a month. He's also happy with basically whatever he gets to do that's not in his routines.

YDS just got his back tuck, so he is totally over the moon about that.

My daughter is happy the Giants are currently beating the Cowboys by 7 going into the half.

She is not to happy that she will not be watching the second half though, since its bed time.

Not sure how happy she will be in the morning.

YG is happy that Ohio State won yesterday.
She is happy that her friend gets to stay in gymnastics.
She is happy that there is less than a month until Jr. High team is over and her fav teammate is back to practicing with her.
She is happy that I am willing to have a shirt made for her from MY old school :) and that I am willing to try to find matching track pants.
She is happy I figured out the sizing issue with the team warm ups.

DD is happy her favourite chicken let her give it a hug. I'm happy DD still has her eyeballs.

At gym, she is happy to be working on front tucks (or front butt-splats, as they currently are), cartwheels and handstands. She is happy to have finally managed her hanging pullover on high bar twice. She is happy to have finally made it to the top of the tallest rope.
