Parents Bone density and elite gymnastics

It came up because my DD has been part of a competition assessment team. I think perhaps bone density was the wrong phrase but what she means is big boned. My dd is very strong and muscular but is definitely not skinny or light. So I assume she was implying that it may at some point be a...

Parents Bone density and elite gymnastics

My 6 year old has no fat on her but has what her coach said 'high bone density' which could work as a disadvantage for her because she has to be proportionally stronger. Is it the be all and end all? Her coach didn't really say but my dd works so hard and if her body shape means she will...

Parents Knee pain in 5 year old DD

Thank you all for your replies. No - no visible changes to the knee and it seems to be mostly when she's putting excessive weight on it so when hopping, jumping or running but walking is fine. I've been trying to make her rest but she doesn't seem capable! I'll give it until the end of the week...

Parents Knee pain in 5 year old DD

My DD has been having pain in her left knee all week. She can still walk on it and is climbing trees as always but she said it hurts to run on it. Should I just let it rest and recover or take her to doctor? Thanks

Sorry. I wasn't trying to encourage. I was shocked and concerned and didn't really know what to do with that so thought I'd ask on here.

Has anyone seen this child on Instagram? I can't quite wrap my head around an 18 month old baby doing backwards walk overs. This baby does them on stone stairs, on kitchen work surfaces. I mean, is it child abuse? Irresponsible parenting? Or have they just got an exceptionally talented baby? I...

WAG Is my kid over gymnastics?

I've been having this issue with my 5 year old DD. Will do a few things at home, enjoys practise once she is there, but I regularly have a battle getting her there. She is doing 3 1.5 hour sessions a week, so cutting it back for now x

Parents Can a regular old 5 year old be competitive one day?

Some gymnasts don't start until older :-) Some of our UK competitive gymnasts (competed in the world championships) didn't start until 6+

WAG Cartwheel drills for 4 year old please!

Because she's 4 years old and been getting badges for the past year and a half. I think the tone of your post is quite patronising tbh, I was asking for advice on how I could help her with her cartwheel because SHE is getting frustrated with it. She is a competitive child, it's her personality.

WAG Cartwheel drills for 4 year old please!

This is very true... She is close they just said she needs to be able to stand up properly from the cartwheel to get the badge. Ah well - not the end of the world. Once she starts her competition group in Jan I am sure she will get over it. She has done really well to get as far as she has with...
