That's what I meant by espoirs. Are the young boys called espoirs too then? My knowledge of MAG is worse than WAG!

Not that I can recall. I can only remember espoirs and junior boys.

Not sure if it's the same for all regions but I know for us once you've done a grade you are only eligible to compete floor and vault at novice level or 4 piece at pre-novice. Could it be that HC is looking ahead to future comps that year (after grades) and that maybe DD doesn't yet have skills...

My DD is working towards national grades, or was, but maybe not this year as she's yet to have a full year in a competitive squad. We were hoping for grade 12 so equivalent would be regional 4 but I suppose that all depends on if she can get her upstart!

I agree, you should definitely approach the coach and I'm sure they will take things on board. Especially as you say coach is young and most likely wouldn't have any experience with situations like this and probably wouldn't notice subtle things that could indicate a problem. With regards to...

Thanks for that. My DD is a VERY fast runner, fastest in her year group out of both girls and boys. Both myself and her dad were sprinters too, struggled with endurance running at all in school. It is really fascinating!
