    WAG Where's Bailie?

I was wondering about Foberg. Is she injured as well?

    WAG Staying on the beam

Not an expert but there is also the issue of negative impact on their attitude after a fall. At least for my DD.. And she does fall sometimes, seems like she has a few more deductions after a fall that she probably wouldn't if she would stay on the beam..

WAG How do you teach optimism to a young gymnast?

:) "at work " of course. Although gay work could work as well.

WAG How do you teach optimism to a young gymnast?

I have a similar DD :) the age definitely plays a role in my opinion. Completely agree with what dunno wrote. I always tell her that the most important thing is to know that she did her best and learn from her "mistakes". Play forward, no looking back, do lesson learning after the meet not...

Parents Help for a first time camper!

DD went to camp last year for the first time, she was older than your daughter though.. We brought a bed sheet, blanket, pillow case that would make her feel at home when she goes to sleep. A book (that she didn't use of course) and her favorite stuffed animal. In other words, things that made...

Parents Puberty - What to expect?

:) I am sure it does.. just wondering what to do before 5:00 PM.. ... I was specifically wondering what if at all is "unique" for gymnasts..

Parents Puberty - What to expect?

DD is 10 (training new L4, a slim chance to do L5 next season but that's a whole different story..) and its definitely starting... little tiny signs of breasts.. she started wearing a sports bra for practice and sometimes when she wears a see through shirt.. Anyway. experienced parents - can u...

    WAG Coach-Gymnast relationship

We had a similar situation. I don't think (at least never heard) that this coach didn't like working with the group BUT - DD felt as if she "doesn't like her and works only with Suzie". I am not at the gym during practice so all I had was DD's point of view. The approach i took was on one hand...

WAG Anyone in Orlando learning the new routines?

BlairBob - it is like what you heard in the videos.. Our girls just started learning the new routines and I only managed to hear a part of the level 4 music. It's going to be interesting having to hear this one 40 or so times during a meet...

Parents How do you feel about youtube?

its that and/or how sick she was the day of the meet... I agree. You Tube can be a great resource and we use it a lot as I mentioned. I was wondering what the impact is on those girls with so much exposure, fans etc... to some extent it puts them in a similar position to kid movie stars in...

Parents How do you feel about youtube?

What an amazing thread. DD likes to watch youtube whenever she is struggling with a skill (which happens, well, a lot...) and it comforts her to see others struggling and or watch kids doing it right. SO - we ran into one of those "Amazing Suzies" that are her age and DDs reaction was - WOW...

WAG Anyone in Orlando learning the new routines?

Ha! Finally some good news for my DD. They didn't start learning the new routines yet but coaches told them they involve more dance and I guess she was the only one happy about it :) She asked me today is there is any chance the kip will also be taken out (after hearing about the FHC - her...

Parents from level 4 to 5 (old)

Thanks. I believe it's a combination.. She is going to turn 10. I don't think she feels she is missing anything at school but I guess the level if energy is different as they grow up.. Will try to see if something is bothering her.. Thanks.

Parents from level 4 to 5 (old)

DD is going to compete old level 5 or new 4 this season. She had most of her skills, still struggling with the dreadful glide kip and cartwheel consistency but on the right track. I noticed that she is much more tired after practice, And more tired in general. Additionally, while up until now...

    WAG Talent?

Definitely yes. DD is not one of them and I keep telling her that being the hard worker that she is will get her to get goals (in life in general and in gymnastics). Another observation is that some of those girls are truly amazing but sometimes not great competitors (gets nervous etc) which...

    Parents Clingy child and competitions

Well, clingy is my DD's middle name. Was anyway.. She was older when she started to compete but we had this annoying routine where she would be super excited at home before practice jumping up and down can't wait to go etc. and the minute we got to the gym she would start crying not wanting me...

WAG Has anybody seen my glide kip???

Thanks for your responses. I hope she will regain it soon..

WAG Has anybody seen my glide kip???

She refuses to get grips actually.. So no.. I think a lot of it has to do with her mood and how practice is going... She just got into a vicious cycle with it.. She keeps trying and works hard but I am just concerned and trying to find ways to ease the stress...

    WAG Growing pains...

I have the exact same situation with my DD. everything used to come so easy for her in and outside of the gym. What I found useful is telling her about situations where I had to work hard to get something (at work etc). I am telling her in details how frustrating it was, how sometimes it seems...
