    WAG Maggie Haney suspended

I honestly think this is “the example” that USAG is using to tell coaches that the “old ways” will not be tolerated and it send a message to not only gyms but more importantly the gymnasts....elite and otherwise that their voices have been heard and they are trying to prove that to them.

    WAG Level 10 Vault Help!

hello, My daughter is in her first year of L10. She was successful and just wrapped up Regionals. Moving forward, she needs to have a L10 Vault with a Start Value at 10.0. She has been doing yurchenko layouts. She is a tiny gymnast though only weighing 76 pounds. So the yurchenko entry...

    Parents scoring question

OK.....I did not count that! Drove me crazy....she had been scoring 8.9 on average consistently and then propelled to a 9.450 in a meet in December! It was the last event we were worried about....then when that happened we couldn't believe it....especially after seeing handspring vaults and...

    Parents scoring question

Hello, I'm hoping to gain some insight on a confusing situation that happened to my dd this past weekend. She was competing in a large meet in PA this past weekend. She is a L8. Her scores were very good on all other events except Vault. Oddly enough it was the first event that her team...

    Parents Level 8 competition

Hi there....I heard recently that there was a recent switch to include Level 8 in a National competition beyond the Regional Meets? I thought L8 went to Regionals and that was it but have heard that changed this year? Is there any truth to this? I thought maybe it was since the Level switches...

    WAG L8 Tumbling Pass

Ok sounds good.....she does a second pass that is a front layout front tuck or pike. You're right thought....it seems I'm more concerned about her doing what other kids are doing.....It's almost like in my head I feel like she may be falling behind!

    WAG L8 Tumbling Pass

Hello....my daughter is 11 and a L8....she had an injury last year and at the time she had learned a tumbling pass that had a full in it.....however after her injury she was afraid to do it. This year she learned again and it was beautiful. A new coach came on board at her gym and said she had...

    Parents Going Elite

Fantastic advice from you all and thank you! My daughter was a TOPS kid and had the Texas experience. At this point she still attends regular school....because her Mom & I don't want to make these decisions for her in terms of homeschooling, etc. Her gym is an hour away so she is roughly...

    Parents Going Elite

Thank you very much. We are at a gym with an owner who judges elite/college and is a tremendous Coach.....and also have a head coach that has trained elite although this program is on its way to being implemented but not yet in place. There are many talented kids in this program so many are...

    Parents Going Elite

Hi there.....this is a little premature for my little girl. However, I'm inquiring to find out, what everyone's opinion is as to when a gymnast should consider going Elite? What considerations should they look at and what kind of scores should they be obtaining to go to the next level...

Parents Making the decision to try for elite....

Wow kdd sorry to hear about your experience. Sounds like an unprofessional gym I wouldn't want to be a part of anyway! A good gym would support your decision and what's best for your child, especially if they ever cared for her! Sounds like your breakaway from there was a good one! Best of...

Parents Moving to Northern Maryland - - Looking for a Gym

Thank you so much for this information.....looks like I have some homework! I checked mymeetscores.....and I'm thinking that Harford may definitely be a possibility. They definitely seem to have a solid optional program.....more so than ACPR, who seem to fall off in scores as kids get older...

Parents Moving to Northern Maryland - - Looking for a Gym

Thanks for the input! More options in that area than I anticipated! An hour drive would be ok for us I think but it would all depend on coaching styles etc. any insight on this? College scholarship opportunities are important and we have been told this is definitely a reasonable option for...

Parents Moving to Northern Maryland - - Looking for a Gym

Hello, my family is moving to Northern MD (Darlington area) and my daughter is a L8 optional gymnast (pretty good too). Can anyone recommend any good gyms in Maryland (of course, it would be great if there was a great gym for Optional gymnastics in the area but we are willing to drive, north or...
