*I apologize in advance for the novel*
My son just turned 6 this past April, he competes TNT. Over the summer He has learned and is quickly mastering bigger skills (Back tuck/pike, Barani, all variations) on trampoline and double mini. He has a passion for gym and BIG dreams.
All sounds...
He's got it! Back tucks on trampoline are a breeze now. Not at all technically "clean" but it's there! Every week he comes closer to his bhs. Some of you may remember 6 months ago he wouldn't even try without a spot. I love this new gym and how comfortable and confident he has become. I told him...
Please tell me I'm not alone. I can't do my son's attitude anymore. He thinks he's hot stuff and chooses not to listen. I am to the point of pulling him out of gym. He thinks he doesn't have to listen and spends half the night jumping in the pit. I used to LOVE watching him and now it just makes...
Ok just looking for advice...
I hold my son to a pretty high standard in the gym aside from skills. You respect the coaches (which isn't an issue), follow the gym rules, gym time is for practice not play, be ready to get to gym on time (of course we are sometimes late that isn't his fault)...
I just wanted to update everyone and say every single one of you were right. My son's first meet was this past Sunday. He/We had so much fun. It was a super small meet which was perfect for him to get the feel of competing. On the score card the day was rough, he got zeros on both tumbling...
I'm sure this won't be a popular post but I'm going to ask anyway....
If you KNOW your child is going to go to a meet and be embarrassed would you still let them go or pull them out?
I can give my reasons if needed.
As some of you know we recently had a forced gym switch. Things are going about as well as can be expected moving so close to meet season but we're having the biggest struggle with my son's confidence. He was never allowed to try skills without a spot at his old gym and the trend is continuing...
Update time!!!
What a completely different experience. We were greeted by both the gym owner and coach when we arrived. Weslan had a blast, he was having fun again. He liked the coaches and the coaches were happy to have him. They spoke with me after practice which was awesome!!!
So here's the...
I'm upset, angry, sad, heartbroken, and I don't even know what else anymore. We were/Are 1 WEEK out from my son's first ever tumbling and trampoline meet and now he doesn't want to go back. All was good until we had practice today. He will under no circumstances throw his back tuck on trampoline...
My son has had a few rough days at the gym and was actually asked to miss Mondays practice as a 'reset and re focus day'. He is really bummed, I understand his coaches reasoning but my son is really bummed out. He knows he's making mistakes and letting his coach down. I really don't know what to...
Is there a place where I can ask t&T specific questions? I know there is a board here but it's super quiet. Now that comp season is getting super close I have tons of questions and don't want to get bugging the parent forum if I could get specific answers elsewhere.
Thanks!
I'll start this by saying I completely trust coach, I am simply curious.
My son is planning to compete T&T level 4 ( we compete in Jan) but has started training level 5 for a potential mid season move.
While chatting with coach it was mentioned that he as well as a few others has begun...
Does your gym have one?
How does it work?
If not do you feel your gym needs one?
What do you do for parent involvement?
How do you fundraise?
My son's gym currently does not have a boosters but it has been mentioned recently due to low parent involvement.
Long story short my son's coach has offered to keep snacks is in his office for my son for before practice (he goes straight from school). My question is what do you recommend? We have a very strict nut free building policy at our gym so my go to (and his favorite) of peanut butter type stuff is...
How far in advance do you typically receive comp schedules? My work is a place where you need to request schedule changes way in advance typically after the first of the year and our comp season starts in January. I don't want to nag the gym before I know what is normal.
Thanks
My son has been working for a while now on landing his front tuck off the double mini. (He is landing on his feet squatting then falling to his butt.) He is starting to become very frustrated as this is the first thing he struggled with. He can do a round-off back handspring almost completely on...
I was speaking with my son's coach today (who we love) and he mentioned something about the older kids not being comfortable ouf of their own gym. (The optional t&t kids have been training occasionally at a gym with a pit until our gym moves in december) he explained how they freeze and dont...
