Agreed. I'm sure the coaches didn't do this intentionally. They may have been waiting to make sure that she had all of her skills and she was prepared mentally and physically. I'm sure she will be happy to compete either way. Good luck at your last few meets.
Michigan ave has a lot of stores. They call it the Magnificent Mile. I think they have like over 60 stores so that could be fun for the older girls (teenagers)
I am thinking I am behind in the times. We have our first optional meet of season this Friday and two of gymnasts showed up with bright pink hair at practice! What happen to clean, classy, and a "put" together look? Am I asking too much to have the girls show up with a nice bun and no crazy hair?
I would not recommend buying a bar. As a coach I know children are going to do gymnastics at home no matter how many times you say not to. I tell parents to think about soft mats and lots of them...
I wish I had more time with my gymnasts to work on body positions, conditioning, and strength. As the gymnasts move up they need more cardio for endurance, strength for harder skills, and always room to correct shapes. The gym I work at has the girls level 6-10 go 16 hours. We get a lot done...
What level are you in? In certain levels you do need to have three elements in a tumbling pass. However if you could do a round off 1 1/2 into a punch layout it would be a great way to add some connection bonuses. Lots of gymnasts don't use the back handspring and if you get more power without...
As a coach I would never say someone is "not coachable." I think that is one of the worst things you can tell a child. It would be like telling a student that he/she is stupid. If you are looking for reasons to stay I would suggest leaving. At this level and in the TOPs program another gym with...
We do lots of back extensions with the floor bar. Work on finishing in a hollow body position. If you have a strap bar I have my kids spend five minutes each practice working casting, clear hips, and giants.
I would look up "facing Fear" worksheets. I had a gymnast with this same issue and I had her write down why she was afraid, and what steps she could take to over come the fear. It helped by having her write out her own goals for each practice. I was just a coaching clinic that Mary Lee Tracy...
