We're in southwest Ohio, and from our competition experience, Pinnacle seems to have a pretty strong program. I'm not too familiar with the other gyms though.
My DD had this happen to her in L4. She so badly wanted to score at least a 9.0 on her bar routine. She did her best routine ever and was so excited afterwards, she ran over to her coach and forgot to salute. She got an 8.9. *Sigh*
I love Melody! We're really spoiled, because Melody lives in the same city as our gym, so we just shoot her an email of what we need and pick it up at her house. Can't beat that! :)
My daughter is a 2nd year L8 gymnast, and has been training a Tsuk-tuck for over a year. She is still not ready to safely do it in competition, so she does a front handspring and a 1/2 on/1/2 off vault. She typically scores mid-high 8's, which is better scores then some poorly executed (and...
We went to the one in Kentucky 2 years ago. That particular one was pretty disorganized. My DD had over 1 1/2 hour wait between vault & bars rotations! Also, the scoring was pretty hard. If I remember correctly, they used a 5 judge panel, and it was almost like they were trying to outdo each...
It looks like I'm not alone. My soon to be 13 year old still wears size 8-10 shorts or pants and 12-14 tops. If anyone from GK-Elite is browsing this link, please consider developing a line of jeans specifically for gymnast bodies. I think it would be a HUGE success!!!
We actually had this happen last season. My DD was an 11-year old L7, and she had a spectacular season on beam. Scored 9.4 - 9.6 at every meet. Before states, I took her to the gym for a light practice and asked the coach how long he wanted her there. The response was, it doesn't really...
Sending ((hugs)) your DD's way. I've struggled with bouts of anemia since my teens, and am just recovering from a severe bout around the holidays. Sounds like she's on the path to recovery, and now you'll both know the signs to watch for if it flares up again. Best wishes for a speedy...
We were in the exact same situation you are in a couple years ago. My daughter was a 10 year old Level 7 and at the top of the program at her old gym. She was struggling learning new skills, because there was no one above her to emulate. We moved to a nice gym with a decent optional program with...
One of our coaches is also a judge, and trust me it is NOT beneficial to our team when she judges our girls. My dd's scores are always lower when she judges her. I assume this is because she sees her every day in the gym and knows what she is capable of.
Megley...don't count her out! My daughter's vault scores in Level 4 averaged 4.5 - 6.0. She NEVER won anything in compulsory and really took off in Level 7. You just never know! Luckily, she had a coach that saw SOMETHING in her and let her keep going.
While watching some old footage of...
Good luck at your meet!
I agree, it is hard to get the connection value on beam. She keeps moving in between, but obviously the judges aren't easily fooled! LOL
