I am a member of a team and I rely on the team, I defer to it, and sacrifice for it because the team, not the individual is the ultimate champion. –Mia Hamm

True Champion
You dream of this stuff for so long, Even the sacrifices and pain you went through, Is nothing compare to the feeling you get, When you go on that podium and hear your national anthem.
Everything has to come to an end, But when it comes, All the pain you had subside over the years, Just make you want to cry…
I haven't posted in a while but I thought this would be a great place to share. My DD wrote this in English and well...I'm somewhat biased but I think its sweet because I know every word came from her little 11yo heart. I hope you enjoy it.
I really apreciate that today. It's very very good! It made me cry, but I'm pretty much a wreck today, and also cried at the hearing of the Gettysburg address! I really liked it though;your daughter did a very nice job. I especially liked the part about the coaches.

The Starfish Story
Original Story by: Loren Eisley
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed
a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?â€
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean.
The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.â€
“Son,†the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish?
You can’t make a difference!â€
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish,
and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…â€
I made a difference for that one.â€
The starfish story is a little less relevant to sports, but this story was told to us at Badger Girls State by the wisconsin cheif justice, and I just loved it so much!
