Not especially during competition season, but during summer I've seen some gyms work front tucks with level 3s. Better to work them and learn them properly as it is a skill most gymnasts will try on their own.

Also, being in a rec class a lot of times the coach might like to try to work some fun skills in the class as well!

Yes, quite normal around here. Level 3 boys do a front tuck for vault for competition so they often work it on floor too.

Working the front tuck on a spring board or the floor will help their vault, it also conditions their legs and builds the speed and power. So its beneficial for the girls as well. Our level 3's work it on floor.

but in Australia a front tuck is a bonus dismount off beam in level 4 and a core dismount in level 5. It is also a bonus skill on floor in level 4.

DDs coach had them attempt front tucks on a couple of occasions, but nothing something practiced.

I think it's good! Most kids that are in a lvl 3 rec class are older (8 yr +...) So a lot of these kids will be trying or doing them on their trampolines @ home, so at least they (you) will get tips on how to perform it correctly & hopefully safely too.
