It is called Women's Artistic Gymnastics for good reason. There are so many beautiful routines out there in so many categories of dance, and in so many flavors. The fact that a gymnast has an opportunity to artfully express themselves in their floor routine is one of the greatest things about this sport. It would be far less entertaining and engaging if, for example, every routine were to be in a lyrical or balletic genre. I also want to point out that almost every single video posted in this thread, while all incredible and masterfully performed (Khorkina's routine, WOW!), are of routines that are years and years old. Although many people may not like the new routines, whether they be hip-hop inspired or just insanely contemporary and different, one must keep in mind that they are a sign of the times, and an expression of the individual gymnast. I think it's fantastic that routines like Lloimincia's and Emmy's exist. They reflect the newer, younger styles of dance and keep the sport true to its namesake. It must remain artistic.
