    Parents Team Tryouts

I’d contact other gyms to see what they think. Even if she doesn’t feel like she wants to change right now it would be a good idea to have a couple of different opinions. She might change her mind or you might have a little more understanding to proceed.

Parents why are some kids so rude

I'm sorry your daughter is going through this. Such a hard thing to tough out. I really hope it gets better soon.

Parents Is it bad form to leave a gym during Preteam? Also Xcel Bronze vs. Preteam?

I think if the plan is for her to end up in Excel anyway I would go ahead and switch over. I personally don't see an advantage to staying in JO temporarily if she doesn't intend to stay there for the long term. As far as the gym goes, you have to do what's best for your family. Don't worry...

    WAG Ozone leos

They fit great on my girls and I think they ran close to GK sizes. As someone mentioned the ones we had were thicker leos, but I kind of liked that. Some leos are way too thin, it was a nice change.

Parents Not sure what to do with my daughter

I'd take her to the acro tryouts. In doing so she might figure out what she really wants and so will you. ;-) Good luck!

Parents Move from Level 4 to Xcel

Sorry for the initial reply! I think somehow I wrote the wrong replay to the wrong post. I would have her evaluated at another gym. I've seen some gyms push certain girls to Xcel for their own purposes. I would definitely want a second opinion! Good luck!

    Parents Teenagerdom and gym

We've been in that situation several times with my girls. It was particularly bad for my oldest and she ended up quitting. I wish I had words of wisdom for you but I don't. I just wanted to tell you that you and your daughter are not alone. Hugs and hope it gets better!

WAG Finally and just in time!

Awww! Good job! Congratulations to her. I love it when the littles get new skills they’ve been working so hard on.

WAG Skipping Invite Camp and Going Straight to Devo Camp...

    Congratulations! She will do amazing!

    WAG TOO WARM!

I guess we’ve been lucky with nice, functioning A/C units. That sounds tough! I’d throw open all of the doors, fans and a lot of water?

Parents Finally some answers- wrist injury

We have had quite a few injuries but none that sound like what yours is going through. How discouraging for her after going through the OCD injury. I hope you get the answers out are looking for and she is back to doing what she loves sooner rather than later.

    Parents Understanding mobility requirements

Yes, completely depends on the gym. Some have specific score requirements that are high, some low. Others promote or repeat with no rhyme or reason that is evident to the parent. The training group makes a complete difference. Some training groups upskill, others only do skills for the...

Parents What To Do With Time Off For Injury?

Mine have always gone despite injuries. They do extra conditioning and work on the events they can. When mine had a broken toe she wore a shoe and did a lot of bars. With an arm injury mine did beam and floor still. Our coaches have been pretty good at working around it.

Parents Does your gym have a cheer-leading team?

Ours does. My kids see it, but aren’t interested in the least. :) They think it looks boring.

Parents Do you go to out-of-state meets as a compulsory level gymnast?

Definitely odd. I know how the girls look forward to state, so sad to see that taken away from them. Sounds like all of the coaches wanted to get a vacation so there was no one to stay behind and deal with state. In my experience the only time I’ve seen compulsories go to travel meets is when...

    WAG Reason to switch gyms?

I’d move her. It’s frustrating that she scored so high yet they have already decided to make her repeat the level. I always wonder if it’s for the benefit of the girl or the gym. A similar thing happened to mine and I chose to move her. Since then she’s continued to move up in levels and is...

    Parents Days off

I’d let her continue to swim. I wouldn’t be worried at all about extra hours from swimming. I wish mine wanted to!

    Parents TOPS RESULTS....

If the cutoff was 82 for ten year olds, mine missed it by a fraction of a point. Huge congratulations to all who made it! Great job!

WAG Beginning Competitive Gymnastics at 14?

Go for it! Although it is unusual, one of my girls started late and has gone from never stepping into a gym to training L8 in two years. She conditioned a lot. That's been the biggest thing that helped her. She works hard on building her strength at home as well as in the gym. Find a great...
