Is Marta retiring???

Is Marta Karolyi retiring and going to be replaced by Valeri Luikin of WOGA? Any truth to this or is it just a rumor?

Yes she is supposed to retire, the rest is definitely a rumour.

I had heard she planned to step down after the 2012 Olympics. Some names of potential successors have been kicked around, but I don't think anyone has been offered the position yet.

I'm not certain, but I think that Mary Lee Tracy from CGA is one of the coaches being considered for the job.

In an interview on Gymnastike, she said she wasn't interested. JMO, MLT would not be a good fit for that position.

I was a guest coach at Karolyi's camp last year. The other coaches were saying that Marta will retire after the next olympics. I also heard that a possible candidate will be Nastia's dad taking over the position. This is just what I had heard from the other younger coaches there so it very possibly could be a rumor
